Production for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is officially underway with a confirmed filming start date and a brand new home base in New York City. Showrunner Clyde Phillips has provided key details, confirming the season will begin filming on April 13, 2026, with a planned premiere in October 2026. The new season will consist of 10 episodes, matching the length of the first season.
The series will make television history by becoming the first production to film at Manhattan’s new Sunset Pier 94 Studios. Paramount Television Studios has signed the first lease for the facility, securing 70,000 square feet of space, including two sound stages. This move solidifies the show’s commitment to New York, where the first season was also filmed across the city’s five boroughs.
Story Focus for Season 2
The upcoming season will see Detective Claudette Wallace, played by Kadia Saraf, intensify her hunt for the elusive New York Ripper. A major clue was left for her in the Season 1 finale when Dexter Morgan provided a file identifying the Ripper as Don Framt. Showrunner Clyde Phillips has confirmed this villain will be officially introduced in the new season, creating a shared target for both Wallace and Dexter.
This dynamic marks a return to a classic formula from the original Dexter series, where the police and Dexter would separately investigate the same major serial killer. Writer Scott Reynolds recently teased this storyline in a social media post, captioning a photo with Saraf, “Still on the hunt for that New York Ripper guyโฆ”.
Confirmed Filming and Production Details
The production will utilize a method called block shooting, where two episodes are filmed simultaneously for efficiency. Marcos Siega, who directed several episodes in the first season and serves as an executive producer, will direct six episodes of Season 2. The team is finalizing a deal for another director to film the remaining four episodes.
The relocation to Sunset Pier 94 Studios is a significant logistical shift. The state-of-the-art facility offers 232,000 square feet of leasable space and is located on the West Side Highway with views of the Hudson River. Drew Brown, Executive Vice President of Production for Paramount Television Studios, stated the move allows greater access to local creative talent and leverages competitive tax credit programs.
Paramount is receiving an additional 10 percent tax credit from New York State for continuing production there, on top of an existing 30 percent incentive. This substantial investment indicates strong network support for the series, especially following the cancellation of the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin.
Returning and New Cast Members
Michael C. Hall will of course return as Dexter Morgan. He announced the Season 2 renewal himself in a video message to fans in October 2025. Other confirmed returning cast members from Season 1 include Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan and Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace. Her partner, Detective Melvin Oliva, played by Dominic Fumusa, is also expected to return.
The actor who will play the New York Ripper, Don Framt, has not yet been announced. Given the high-profile guest stars featured in Season 1โincluding Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris, and Krysten Ritterโfans are anticipating another major casting reveal for the new villain.
