BLACKPINK’s Jisoo recently shared some interesting details about her audition with YG Entertainment on Dex’s show, Fridge Interview. Turns out, her journey to becoming a global icon wasn’t exactly planned.
Jisoo’s story is quite a surprise. She didn’t even know about YG Entertainment until she joined the company. With her stunning looks and obvious talent, it’s no shock that Jisoo initially auditioned to be an actress, following in the footsteps of many famous stars. However, YG had other plans for her.
From Acting Auditions to Singing
During her audition, Jisoo was asked to sing, even though she was there for acting. She chose the song “I Have A Lover” and had to sing directly into the camera, making eye contact. She even demonstrated this on the show, explaining that there was no microphone and that her face needed to be filmed.
An Unexpected Question
One of the first questions Jisoo faced during her audition was, “Do you have a boyfriend?” Adding to the awkwardness, Jisoo was wearing a fashion ring at the time. This led to the question about her relationship status. Jisoo clarified that it was just a ring.
A Swift Turn of Events
Despite auditioning to be an actress, YG Entertainment contacted Jisoo the very same day. After the audition, they took her upstairs and told her to start practicing the next day. And just like that, her path changed, and she began her journey to stardom.

Jisoo’s talent was clear from the start, and YG recognized it immediately. From the unexpected singing request to the personal questions, it seems like YG knew they had a star on their hands.
