The highly anticipated war film Border 2 is moving forward with Diljit Dosanjh set to start filming his role from June 10. He will join Sunny Deol for the first part of his schedule, with the film aiming to finish shooting by August 10.
Border 2, a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, continues to generate interest. The new film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan War, similar to its predecessor. Production on Border 2 began in November 2024 and has been steadily progressing. The movie is being directed by Anurag Singh.
Sources close to the production have confirmed that Diljit Dosanjh will be a key part of the story. His role is described as bringing an emotional element to the war narrative. His initial scenes will involve Sunny Deol.
Following his work with Sunny Deol in June, Diljit Dosanjh is then scheduled to film scenes with Varun Dhawan starting in July. His character will also have important interactions with Ahan Shetty. The role is said to have a significant background story that adds to the overall plot.
The filmmaking team is working to meet a deadline of August 10 for the completion of filming. Sunny Deol is expected to complete a major portion of his role by the end of June. Both Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan are scheduled to finish their parts in August.
Border 2 is planned for a theatrical release on Republic Day 2026. The original Border was a big success, and this new film is expected to be one of the largest war films ever made in Indian cinema. A notable detail for fans of the first movie is that the popular song “Sandese Aate Hai” will be part of Border 2. The new version of the anthem will feature vocals by Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh.
