The Apple TV+ series Drops of God has become a global sensation, weaving a compelling story of family, legacy, and the world of fine wine. At the heart of this acclaimed drama are the actors who bring its complex characters to life. This guide details the talented international cast and the roles they play in this unique series.

The Core Duo: Camille Lรฉger and Issei Tomine

The story of Drops of God centers on the rivalry and growing bond between two characters from vastly different worlds, brought together by the death of a legendary wine critic.

NiFleur Geffrier takes on the role of Camille Lรฉger. Camille is a young writer living in Paris, estranged from her famous father, Alexandre Lรฉger. When he dies, she learns she must compete in a high-stakes wine-tasting competition to inherit his priceless wine collection, despite a deep personal trauma that has prevented her from drinking alcohol for years. Geffrier portrays Camille’s journey from a lost and confused daughter to a determined woman finding her own strength and reconnecting with her father’s world. Speaking about her character’s evolution into the show’s second season, Geffrier noted, “Camille learned a lot. In fact, she was totally lost at the beginningโ€ฆ and then she found a lot of people around her, love, a sibling, connecting again with her father”.

Playing her rival and eventual ally is Japanese superstar Tomohisa Yamashita as Issei Tomine. Issei is the protรฉgรฉ and “spiritual son” of Alexandre Lรฉger, a brilliant oenologist whose life has been dedicated to wine. He sees the inheritance competition as his rightful due, setting up an immediate clash with Camille. Yamashita brings a thoughtful intensity to the role, exploring a man shaped by rigorous discipline and a complicated family history. Reflecting on the series’ themes, Yamashita shared, “This story is all about learning about life through wine. Humans, theyโ€™re just like a wine. Humans are made up of many things that are intricately intertwined”.

The Supporting Cast in France and Japan

The story moves between France and Japan, featuring a strong ensemble that adds depth to the central mystery and the characters’ pasts.

In France, a key figure is Stanley Weber, who portrays the late Alexandre Lรฉger in flashbacks. Alexandre is the genius but flawed wine critic whose death and unconventional will set the entire story in motion. Cรฉcile Bois plays Marianne Lรฉger, Camille’s mother, who holds her own secrets about the family’s estrangement.

At the French vineyard where Camille trains, Tom Wozniczka plays Thomas Chassangre, the son of a winemaker who becomes Camille’s coach and closest supporter. Gustave Kervern is his father, Philippe Chassangre, the winemaker tasked with preparing Camille for the competition.

In Japan, the cast explores Issei’s pressured family life. Makiko Watanabe plays Honoka Tomine, Issei’s mother, whose past connection to Alexandre Lรฉger is a crucial plot point. Satoshi Nikaido portrays Hirokazu Tomine, Issei’s father, and Masane Tsukayama is Noboru Tomine, the demanding grandfather. Azusa Okamoto appears as Yurika Katase, a journalist who assists Issei.

Other important figures include Luca Terracciano as Lorenzo and Diego Ribon as Luca Inglese, friends and associates of Alexandre who guide the heirs through the process.

Character Journeys and Season 2 Developments

The first season of Drops of God followed Camille and Issei through three intense tasting tests, culminating in a shared inheritance and the revelation of a deep, personal connection between them. The show was renewed for a second season, which premiered on January 21, 2026.

The new season jumps forward three years. Camille is now engaged to Thomas and working at the Chassangre estate, believing she has left her father’s legacy behind. Issei, however, is drawn into a new quest to find the origin of the “world’s greatest wine,” a mystery Alexandre himself could not solve. Camille joins him, sparking a new journey across the globe that tests their relationship and forces them to confront hidden histories.

The actors have hinted at the new challenges their characters face. Fleur Geffrier explained that Camille is pulled back into her father’s world, realizing “she looks way more like her father than she thought. And it’s a big shock for her”. Tomohisa Yamashita described a central theme of the new season as “forgiveness, especially in the family situation,” suggesting Issei will continue to grapple with his complex family dynamics.
