Euphoria is a teen drama series that follows the lives of characters in the fictional town of East Highland, California, who face challenges such as love, loss, addiction, and identity. The series is based on an Israeli show of the same name and stars Zendaya as Rue, a character who battles with drug addiction and later becomes a sponsor and guide to other characters.
The series has been praised for its realistic portrayal of mental health issues, its diverse and talented cast, and its creative and innovative storytelling. However, fans have been eagerly waiting for the third season of Euphoria, which has been delayed since its last season aired in February 2022.
Colman Domingo Explains the Reason Behind the Delay
Colman Domingo is an actor who recurs on Euphoria as Ali, a character who battles with drug addiction and later becomes a sponsor and guide to Rue. In an interview with GQ, Domingo revealed why Euphoria Season 3 has been delayed and what it means for the series.
He said that creator Sam Levinson is a person who writes and rewrites constantly, because he is wrestling with what’s important. He said that Levinson is responding immediately to what the ills of the world are and that he is very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That’s what he wants to figure out with season three.
Domingo also mentioned that the delay in Euphoria Season 3’s development is due to Levinson’s extensive rewrites for existential exploration. The rewrites are a response to the losses of cast member Angus Cloud and producer Kevin Turen, making the season a tribute to their memory.
What to Expect from Euphoria Season 3
Euphoria Season 3 is expected to continue the story of Rue and her friends, as well as introduce new characters and themes. In August 2023, Levinson teased in an interview with Elle that Season 3 would take on a “film noir” vibe, with Rue exploring the complexities of maintaining personal integrity in a corrupt society.
Euphoria is currently available to watch on JioCinema and Amazon Prime in India, and the series can be streamed on different platforms. Fans can also follow Zendaya and Colman Domingo on social media for more updates on Euphoria Season 3.
