The new Netflix horror movie Fear Street: Prom Queen brings back the bloody chaos of Shadyside with a twisted prom night massacre. The film, set in 1988, follows outcast Lori Granger as she competes for the title of prom queen while a masked killer hunts down the candidates. The ending reveals shocking truths about the killers and their motives.
The killers are Dan and Nancy Falconer, parents of popular girl Tiffany Falconer. They wanted their daughter to win the prom queen crown at any cost. Dan, a teacher at Shadyside High, wears a red raincoat and mask while murdering the competition. Nancy later joins the killing spree, revealing a deeper grudge against Loriโs family.
Dan is unmasked after Lori stabs him in the eye with her prom queen tiara. He admits,
“Because I knew how much you wanted it, both of you. Nobody remembers the details, they only remember the winner.”
But the terror doesnโt end there. Nancy attacks Lori at home, confessing she killed Loriโs father years ago out of jealousy. She says,
“He was mine first, you know, before your skank of a mother came alongโฆ My face was the last thing that he ever saw.”
Tiffany also turns on Lori, trying to kill her in a closet. Lori fights back, kicking Tiffany off a balcony and impaling her on a decoration. She then kills Nancy with a trophy. The film ends with Lori declaring,
“I’m Lori f—ing Granger.”
A mid-credits scene shows Nancyโs blood forming a witchโs mark, hinting at the Shadyside curse from the original Fear Street trilogy. Director Matt Palmer said this was a nod to the supernatural elements of the franchise.
The movie leaves several questions unanswered. Was the Falconer family influenced by the curse? Will Lori face more horrors in Shadyside? Fans will have to wait for future films to find out.
Fear Street: Prom Queen is now streaming on Netflix.
