Final Destination Bloodlines is now in theaters, bringing back the popular horror franchise after 14 years. The sixth film in the series introduces a fresh twist while keeping the deadly chaos fans love. Here’s everything to know about the new movie.

The story follows Stefani Reyes, a college student played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana, who has terrifying nightmares about a tower collapse in 1968. She soon learns these visions are connected to her grandmother, Iris Campbell, who once stopped a disaster but unknowingly put her entire family in danger. Death is now coming for them in brutal ways.

This time, the curse affects multiple generations. Unlike past films where strangers survived a disaster, Bloodlines focuses on a family marked for death. The movie explores how choices from the past can haunt future generations. Tony Todd returns as William Bludworth, the mysterious coroner who knows Death’s secrets. This was Todd’s final role before his passing in 2024.

Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein bring creative kills to the screen. The deaths are over-the-top, involving freak accidents like a malfunctioning MRI machine and a deadly garbage truck. Some fans might find them more cartoonish than scary, but they stay true to the franchise’s style.

The film’s opening scene revisits 1968, where a young Iris (played by Brec Bassinger) has a premonition of the Skyview Restaurant Tower collapsing. She saves many lives, but Death doesn’t forget. Years later, Stefani must figure out how to stop the curse before her entire family is wiped out.

One of the biggest changes in Bloodlines is its focus on family drama. Stefani reconnects with her estranged mother, Darlene (Rya Kihlstedt), and her younger brother, Charlie (Teo Briones). The emotional stakes are higher as they fight to survive together.

Critics have mixed opinions. Some praise the film’s wild death scenes and callbacks to past movies. Others say the script relies too much on humor and feels repetitive. Still, fans of the franchise will enjoy the return of Tony Todd and the creative kills.

The movie had a troubled production. Filming was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023. It finally shot in Vancouver from March to May 2024. Despite challenges, the team delivered a fast-paced horror flick with plenty of surprises.

Final Destination Bloodlines is rated R for strong violence and gore. It runs for 110 minutes and is playing in IMAX and standard formats. The budget was $50 million, and early box office numbers show it’s performing well.

*”Death is a relentless son of a ****,” says the official trailer, capturing the film’s dark humor. Fans can expect the same tension and creative kills that made the series famous. Whether this revival leads to more sequels depends on audience response.
