A new teen drama about love, family pressure, and competitive figure skating arrives on Netflix. Finding Her Edge, an eight-episode series based on the popular young adult novel, starts streaming on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The show follows a young skater caught between her past and present as she tries to save her family’s legacy.
Finding Her Edge Release Time and Schedule
The complete first season of Finding Her Edge will be available at once for binge-watching. For viewers in the United Kingdom, the show will go live on Netflix at 8:00 AM GMT on January 22. Subscribers in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other global regions can expect the series to appear on their Netflix service at 12:00 AM Pacific Time.
This release is part of Netflix’s lineup for the week, which also includes the final season of Queer Eye and the live talent competition Star Search. The series carries a TV-14 rating.
The Plot: A Fake Dating Scheme to Save a Family Legacy
Finding Her Edge centers on seventeen-year-old Adriana Russo, who comes from a famous family of champion figure skaters. Her family’s prized skating rink is in serious financial trouble. To try and save it, Adriana and her new ice-dancing partner, Brayden Elliot, make a plan. They decide to pretend to be a couple off the ice to attract a crucial sponsorship deal.
“For me, this isnโt actually a show about skating,” says executive producer and showrunner Jeff Norton. “Itโs about a group of people who find themselves at a crossroads in their lives and have to navigate through the messiness of life: first loves, true loves, duty, family and passion as the drama plays out against the exciting world of figure skating”.
The plan gets complicated because Adriana still has feelings for her former partner and first love, Freddie O’Connell, who is now training at the same rink with a new partner. The story follows Adriana as she prepares for the World Championships while managing her growing feelings for Brayden and unresolved emotions for Freddie.

Based on a Hit Novel and Filmed in Canada
Finding Her Edge is an adaptation of the 2022 young adult novel of the same name by author Jennifer Iacopelli. The story is also loosely inspired by Jane Austen’s novel Persuasion. The television adaptation was filmed in Ontario, Canada, with specific locations including Orillia, Barrie, and Wasaga Beach.
The series is produced by WildBrain, the studio behind other young adult adaptations. The directing team includes Shamim Sarif and Jacqueline Pepall. Pepall also served as a writer alongside head writer Shelley Scarrow, Sabrina Sherif, and showrunner Jeff Norton.
Madelyn Keys shared her experience learning about the sport for her role: “While I was a huge fan of figure skating before working on this show, Iโd never seen it live, and the cameras truly donโt catch how fast the skaters are going while performing their routines”.
