Ju Haknyeon has left THE BOYZ after reports linked him to a meeting with a former Japanese adult actress. The singer denied any illegal activity, but his agency ended his contract, citing a breach of trust.
On June 18, 2025, ONE HUNDRED Label announced that Ju Haknyeon would no longer be part of THE BOYZ. The agency stated that his departure was due to “personal issues” that made it impossible to continue working with him. They did not give details at first, but reports soon revealed the reason.
Korean media outlets claimed Ju Haknyeon met former Japanese AV actress Kirara Asuka in Tokyo on May 30, 2025. News1 reported that they were seen together at a bar in Roppongi, a popular nightlife area. Some sources alleged that money was exchanged between them, suggesting possible involvement in illegal activities.
ONE HUNDRED Label confirmed they received an inquiry from Japanese magazine Shลซkan Bunshun about the meeting. After investigating, they decided to remove Ju Haknyeon from the group. Their statement said, “We recognized the severity of the issue and realized it has become difficult to maintain our trust in him as an artist.”
Ju Haknyeon responded with a handwritten letter on Instagram. He admitted attending the gathering but denied any wrongdoing.
“Hello, this is Ju Haknyeon. First, I apologize to the fans who must have been shocked by the news about me. On May 30, 2025, I attended a private gathering with alcohol. It is true I was there, but it is completely false that I engaged in any illegal activity like prostitution. I am deeply reflecting on my actions and sincerely apologize to those who were shocked.”
Despite his denial, Korean media outlet TenAsia reported that insiders claimed Ju Haknyeon paid Kirara Asuka for s*x. They also said a producer from ONE HUNDRED was removed due to the same issue. Under South Korean law, involvement in prostitution can lead to fines or jail time, even if it happens outside the country.
THE BOYZ will now continue as a 10-member group. The agency assured fans they will support the remaining members. Meanwhile, netizens have mixed reactions. Some believe Ju Haknyeonโs denial, while others question why he was removed if the allegations were false.
Kirara Asuka, a former adult film star, retired in 2020 and now works as an influencer. Her meeting with Ju Haknyeon has caused major backlash in Korea, where such scandals can severely impact a celebrityโs career.
This is not the first controversy for THE BOYZ. Member Juyeon recently denied dating rumors with actress Shin Si-a, while Seonwoo faced criticism for alleged staff mistreatment. The group debuted in 2017 and has been active under ONE HUNDRED since leaving their previous agency.
No further updates have been given by Ju Haknyeon or his former agency. Fans are waiting to see if more details will emerge about the Tokyo meeting and the reasons behind his sudden exit.
