Netflix has released the first official trailer for Free Bert, a new scripted comedy series starring comedian Bert Kreischer. The trailer shows Kreischer, famous for performing shirtless, trying to fit into the strict world of a Beverly Hills private school. Netflix also announced the series will be available to stream worldwide on January 22, 2026.
The six-part series features a fictional story where Kreischer plays a version of himself. His life changes when his daughters get into an elite school. His usual wild behavior makes his family outsiders, forcing him to try and act more proper.
The main question in the new trailer comes from someone asking Kreischer, “This whole shirtless thing, where does it come from?”. The preview shows the clash between his well-known, energetic personality and the polished environment of his daughters’ new school.
We see Kreischer’s character, Bert, trying to change. He says he will “put on a shirt” to help his family fit in. The comedy comes from watching a man known for wild stories struggle with school events and dealing with other parents. One scene shows his daughter, Georgia, becoming a target for cyberbullies, which pushes Bert to defend her in his own unique way.
The series builds its story around Bert’s home life and the new social world he enters.
The cast also includes many actors playing other parents and school staff. This includes Christine Horn, Chris Witaske, Mandell Maughan, and Matthew Del Negro.
Free Bert is created by Bert Kreischer, Jarrad Paul, and Andy Mogel. Paul and Mogel are the showrunners. They also wrote and directed the series. The two creators have a long history of working together on comedy projects.
The executive producers are Bert Kreischer, his real-life wife LeeAnn Kreischer, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, Elise Henderson, and Judi Marmel. The production company is Counterpart Studios.
The first trailer for Free Bert was shown during Netflix’s Christmas Gameday NFL broadcasts on December 25, 2025. The trailer is now available to watch on Netflix’s official YouTube channel and social media pages.
The full series, with all six episodes, will be released at 12:00 AM Pacific Time (3:00 AM Eastern Time) on January 22, 2026. It will be available globally on Netflix at the same time. For viewers in the United Kingdom, this means a release around 8:00 AM GMT, and in India, around 1:30 PM IST on January 22.
