IU made a special appearance on the final episode of KBS2โ€™s The Seasons: Park Bo-gumโ€™s Cantabile, which aired on August 1, 2025. The surprise visit was part of a promise she had made to Park Bo-gum, her co-star from the Netflix drama When Life Gives You Tangerines. Fans were moved by their friendship and took to social media to share their reactions.

IUโ€™s Surprise Appearance Leaves Park Bo-gum Emotional

During the episode, IU appeared unannounced, carrying a bouquet of flowers. She knelt on one knee to present the flowers to Park Bo-gum, who was visibly emotional.

“I told you Iโ€™d definitely come to Cantabile if you ever did it, but Iโ€™m really, really sorry I couldnโ€™t make it because I was so busy,” IU said.

She had secretly planned the surprise with the production team, worried that Park Bo-gum might find out since he attended all rehearsals. The moment was filled with laughter and tears, with IU playfully telling him, “Donโ€™t cry.”

Fans React to Their Heartfelt Friendship

Fans quickly shared their excitement on social media, praising the duoโ€™s bond. Many recalled their chemistry in When Life Gives You Tangerines and expressed hopes for another collaboration.

“Their friendship is so precious and heartwarming,” one fan wrote.
“In the future at Park Bo-gumโ€™s wedding, I think IU will appear from inside the wedding cake,” another joked.
“At this rate, IU and Park Bo-gum are basically twins, not besties anymore,” a netizen added.

Others highlighted their musical chemistry, with one fan saying, “I need a full album!! Their voices really match so well.”

Behind-the-Scenes of the Surprise

IU revealed that surprising Park Bo-gum was difficult because he never missed a rehearsal. Despite no prior practice, they performed four songs together, including Red Sneakers, Squareโ€™s Dream, Heart, and Friday.

Park Bo-gum, who hosted The Seasons for five months, shared how much effort he put into the show.

“For every episode of โ€˜Cantabile,โ€™ I skipped meals to show my best self on camera,” he said.

The episode also featured video messages from BTSโ€™s V and Roy Kim, but IUโ€™s live appearance was the highlight.

Their 13-Year Friendship and On-Screen Chemistry

IU and Park Bo-gum first met during a commercial shoot in their teens. Their friendship grew over the years, with Park Bo-gum making a cameo in IUโ€™s drama The Producers.

In an interview, IU joked about Park Bo-gumโ€™s looks when he was cast in When Life Gives You Tangerines.

“Is it okay for him to be that good-looking? If he were that handsome, everyone on the island would have a crush on him,” she said.

Their natural chemistry translated on-screen, making the drama a global hit. Fans now hope to see them reunite in another project.
