The first trailer for Paramount+‘s new series Girl Taken is here. It shows a psychological story about survival after a crime. The show is based on a popular book and features well-known actors. The full series will be available to watch in early 2026.
The trailer introduces the main characters. Twin sisters Lily and Abby live in a quiet English town. Their lives break apart when Lily is taken by a local teacher named Rick Hansen. After years away, Lily escapes. But going back to her old life is not easy. Her family has changed, and Rick is still free. The story is about how Lily, her twin sister Abby, and their mother Eve try to become a family again while dealing with fear and the past.
A First Look at the Story and Characters
The trailer starts with a peaceful view of a rural town. You then hear the voice of Eve, the twins’ mother, telling someone her daughter is missing. The mood quickly changes. Viewers see a chain being pulled across a floor. The story shows Rick Hansen, played by Alfie Allen, as a trusted teacher who is helping search for the missing girl. “This is going to be good… You’re going to learn to be good,” Rick says to Lily in a scene from the trailer.
Another scene shows Lily, played by Tallulah Evans, chained to a bed. Rick calls her “Baby doll”. These moments show his controlling and frightening behavior. The story does not just focus on the crime. It focuses on what happens next. The official description says the show is about “trauma, resilience, sisterhood, and the high cost of reclaiming one’s life”.
The People Who Made the Show
Girl Taken is based on the 2016 novel Baby Doll by Hollie Overton. The book received positive reviews when it came out. Critics called it a “compulsive read” and “riveting”. The series was adapted for television by writers David Turpin, Suzanne Cowie, and Nessah Muthy. The show is directed by Laura Way and Bindu de Stoppani.
The production company is Clapperboard Studios, which made the show for Paramount+. Mike Benson and Suzi McIntosh are the executive producers. Mick Pantaleo is the producer. Paramount Global Content Distribution will handle sales in places where Paramount+ is not available.
Cast: Familiar Faces and New Talent
The series brings together experienced actors and new performers.
- Alfie Allen plays Rick Hansen. Allen is best known for his role as Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones. His part in this show is very different.
- Jill Halfpenny plays Eve, the mother of the twins. She has been in other TV dramas like The Cuckoo and After the Flood.
- Tallulah Evans and Delphi Evans play the twin sisters Lily and Abby. In real life, they are also sisters. This is their first major television role together.

Mark your calendars. All episodes of Girl Taken will be released at the same time for global audiences on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The show will be available only on the Paramount+ streaming service.
This release plan is now common for streaming services. It lets viewers watch all six episodes of the series whenever they want. The show was originally announced with the title Baby Doll, the same as the book. The title was changed to Girl Taken in December 2025.
