Gong Myung and Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung are set to star in the upcoming drama “A Very Common Sense Alcoholic,” according to recent reports. The drama, written by Myung Soo Hyun, who is known for works such as A Poem a Day, Monthly Magazine Home, and Drinking Solo, will bring together Gong Myung and Myung Soo Hyun again after their collaboration in the 2016 drama Drinking Solo.

Gong Myung and Sooyoung Take On Unique Roles in the New Drama

On August 20, 2024, it was reported that Gong Myung and Sooyoung have been cast in this highly anticipated drama. Sooyoung, who is also the vocalist of the iconic K-pop group Girls’ Generation, will portray the character Han Geum Ju, a mechanic in a large company who is known as “the woman who drinks better than men.” This role marks another challenging and exciting venture for Sooyoung, who has previously captivated audiences in dramas such as So I Married an Anti-fan, Run On, and Not Others.

Gong Myung will take on the role of Seo Eui Joon, a university doctor who relocates to a rural health center. Gong Myung, who debuted as an actor in 2013 with the film If You Were Me 6, has built a solid career with appearances in popular films and dramas such as Extreme Jobs, The Bride of Habaek, Be Melodramatic, and The Lovers of the Red Sky. His most recent work was in the film Citizen of a Kind, released on January 24, 2024, where he portrayed a voice-phishing victim seeking justice.

Drama’s Plot Centers Around a Woman’s Struggle with Alcoholism

“A Very Common Sense Alcoholic” will explore the life of a woman born and raised in an alcoholic family as she struggles to break free from the grip of alcohol. The drama’s compelling narrative will be brought to life under the direction of Jang Yoo Jung, adding another layer of anticipation to this project.

Girls’ Generation, also known as SNSD, is a legendary K-pop group that debuted in August 2007 with the song “Into the New World.” They achieved massive success with their 2009 hit track “Gee,” which is widely regarded as a classic in K-pop history.

Fans and viewers are eagerly waiting to see how Sooyoung and Gong Myung will bring their characters to life in this new drama. Their casting in “A Very Common Sense Alcoholic” has already created a buzz, and the drama is expected to be a significant addition to their respective acting careers.
