A new biography about Gwyneth Paltrow reveals shocking details about her past relationship with Brad Pitt. The book, titled “Gwyneth: The Biography” by Amy Odell, claims that Paltrow felt she was “better educated” and “more sophisticated” than Pitt during their time together in the 1990s.
The actress, now 52, dated Pitt from 1994 to 1997 after meeting on the set of “Se7en.” They got engaged in 1996 but broke up a year later. According to the book, Paltrow often questioned their relationship due to their different backgrounds.
Gwyneth Paltrow Felt Brad Pitt Wasn’t Sophisticated Enough
The biography highlights Paltrow’s belief that she and Pitt came from very different worlds. She grew up in Manhattan, attended the elite Spence School, and was raised in a wealthy, Hollywood-connected family. Pitt, on the other hand, was raised in a religious household in Missouri.
“Brad and I had very different upbringings,” Paltrow once told an interviewer. “So when we go to restaurants and order caviar, I have to say to Brad, ‘This is beluga and this is osetra.’”

After their breakup, Pitt moved on with Jennifer Aniston, marrying her in 2000. The book reveals that Paltrow was “sad” when she heard the news.
During a 2000 interview at the Toronto Film Festival, a reporter asked Paltrow how she felt about Pitt’s marriage to Aniston.
“Are you really asking me this question?” Paltrow replied, her eyes turning to “daggers.” “I can’t comment on this kind of thing.”
However, behind the scenes, she confided in friends about her true feelings.
“In reality, Gwyneth confided to friends that she’d felt sad when she learned they were getting married,” the book says. “(She was also fond of telling them that Brad ‘has terrible taste in women.’)”
