The emotional speech comes amidst ongoing legal battles between NewJeans and their agency, ADOR. On November 13, 2024, the group sent a legal notice to ADOR, threatening to terminate their exclusive contracts if their demands were not met. According to Yonhap News, the members—Kim Minji, Hanni Pham, Marsh Danielle, Kang Haerin, and Lee Hyein—filed the notice under their real names. They cited “significant breaches” in their contracts and gave ADOR 14 days to address these issues.
This followed a controversial report from HYBE, ADOR’s parent company, which included alleged derogatory remarks about other groups and plans to “remove” NewJeans from HYBE’s lineup. The situation intensified after Min Hee Jin was replaced as CEO of ADOR and her legal action to regain her position was dismissed by the court.

NewJeans, which debuted under ADOR on July 22, 2022, with their viral single Attention, quickly rose to fame with their fresh sound and relatable lyrics.
