The latest episode of Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking took the competition on a magical journey, with hosts James and Oliver Phelps revealing a “Transport” theme that tasked bakers with creating edible showpieces inspired by iconic magical vehicles from the Wizarding World. The six remaining teams were challenged to make transportation-inspired items and classic English desserts for the second episode of the season, which aired on November 9, 2025.
The Magical Theme Announcement
Hosts James and Oliver Phelps, who play the Weasley twins in the Harry Potter films, announced the challenge in a fittingly theatrical way. They welcomed the bakers while wearing conductor hats, with Oliver Phelps mimicking the Knight Bus conductor’s famous introduction. He proclaimed, “Welcome to the night bus, emergency transport for stranded bakers. My name is Oliver Phelps and this is my brother James, and we will be your conductors for the evening.”
The hosts explained the challenge in front of the iconic triple-decker Knight Bus, with James Phelps stating, “We’re here to get things moving. ‘Moving’ being the operative word. Because this fine-looking triple-decker night bus is just one of the many magical ways to navigate through the world of Harry Potter. So if you want to get your sticky mitts on the trophy, for your next challenge, you’ll need to bake a showpiece inspired by the theme: Transport.”
The Transport-Themed Baking Challenge
Each of the six remaining teams received specific instructions for their magical transportation-inspired desserts and had six hours to complete their creations. The hosts emphasized the timeline, telling contestants, “You have six hours to contour up a creation that traverses the amazing world of Harry Potter.”
The teams were assigned different transport-related themes from the Harry Potter universe, including:
- Hagrid’s Motor Bike
- The Knight Bus
- The Vanishing Cabinet
- The Red Telephone Box
- The Weasley’s Flying Car
- The Whiteall Underground Public Toilets
For the Knight Bus theme specifically, one team was tasked with creating “a purple, triple-decker delight. Able to squeeze through even the tightest of traffic jams.” Another team working on The Red Telephone Box received the description: “A secret gateway for visitors into The Ministry of Magic. Just dial 62442 AKA ‘Magic’ for entry.” The team of Jenny and Alex found themselves amused by their assignment, The Whiteall Underground Public Toilets, and couldn’t stop laughing about their unusual theme.
Judges and Guest Appearances
The baking creations were judged by the regular panel of Jozef Youssef and Carla Hall, who were joined by special guest judge Devon Murray. Murray played Seamus Finnigan in the original Harry Potter film series. His appearance continues the show’s tradition of featuring actors from the original films as guest judges, following previous appearances by stars such as Bonnie Wright, Warwick Davis, and Evanna Lynch in earlier episodes.
The show is filmed at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, where the original Harry Potter films were made. This location provides contestants with unprecedented access to the actual sets, including The Great Hall at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Platform 9ยพ, Gringotts Wizarding Bank, and The Burrow.
Competition Format and Prize
Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking features pairs of professional bakers competing to create spellbinding edible showpieces inspired by the Wizarding World. The teams work together to design and execute complex desserts that not only taste delicious but also capture the magic of Harry Potter through innovative designs and magical moving elements.
The winning team receives the Wizards of Baking Cup and will be included in the new Harry Potter cookbook. The trophy is presented in the Great Hall set, reminiscent of the House Cup presentations in the Harry Potter stories.
