Fans can officially book another stay in Hell, as the hit adult animated musical Hazbin Hotel is confirmed for a third season. The renewal for Season 3 and Season 4 was announced by A24 and Prime Video back in July 2024, signaling a long-term commitment to creator Vivienne Medrano’s Hellaverse. Production is moving forward quickly, with voice recording for the third season already completed.

Renewal Status and Production Timeline

Hazbin Hotel received an early renewal for two more seasons during the Amazon Studios animation panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. This announcement came even before the second season premiered, securing the show’s future.

Voice actors have confirmed that recording for the third season is finished. Work on the fourth season is also actively underway. This steady production pace suggests fans will not have to endure another long wait between seasons.

For an animated musical series of this scale, post-production work including animation, scoring, and finalizing the musical numbers typically takes between 9 to 18 months. Given this timeline, industry speculation points towards a potential release for Season 3 around late 2026, though an official date has not been set.

What to Expect in Season 3’s Story

Creator Vivienne Medrano has described the upcoming season as “the Morningstar season,” focusing on the family dynamics between Charlie, the princess of Hell, and her father, Lucifer. Their relationship is expected to take center stage.

The new season will also explore the major revelations from Season 2, particularly the soul ownership deal between the Radio Demon, Alastor, and the cannibal overlord, Rosie. Medrano has stated that this deal is the first step in a much larger story.

โ€œThe Rosie and Alastor deal is the first stepping stone in a much bigger story that involves so much, moving into season 3. Obviously, that is a perfect question: How is she that powerful? The answer could be many things, but the answer is in season 3. Iโ€™m very excited for people to see it,โ€ said creator Vivienne Medrano.

The Season 2 finale also set the stage for bigger conflicts, ending with Charlie receiving a long-awaited phone call from her mother, the mysterious Queen of Hell, Lilith. Her arrival and role are expected to be a significant plot point.

The Returning Voice Cast

The main cast from previous seasons is set to return. Erika Henningsen will be back as the optimistic Charlie Morningstar, alongside Stephanie Beatriz as her girlfriend, Vaggie. The charismatic King of Hell, Lucifer, will return, voiced by Jeremy Jordan.

Other core cast members expected to reprise their roles include:

  • Amir Talai as Alastor, the Radio Demon
  • Keith David as Husk
  • Blake Roman as Angel Dust
  • Alex Brightman as Sir Pentious
  • Kimiko Glenn as Niffty
  • Christian Borle as Vox
  • Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer as Rosie

Alastor’s Newfound Freedom and Future

The end of Season 2 saw Alastor finally secure his freedom from Rosie, making him completely untethered for the first time. Amir Talai, the voice of Alastor, confirmed that this game-changing twist is the foundation for the new season’s story.

โ€œI know exactly what you can expect. And thatโ€™s, thatโ€™s what Season 3 is about,โ€ Talai said about Alastor’s new path.

This raises questions about his unpredictable relationship with Charlie and his simmering rivalry with Lucifer. Talai noted that Alastor’s potential for forming genuine connections, even if they conflict with his larger goals, is what makes his character so compelling for the upcoming season.

While no trailer has been released yet, the confirmation of two more seasons and the active production progress guarantee that the story of Charlie’s redemption hotel will continue. Fans can stream both existing seasons of Hazbin Hotel on Prime Video now.
