HBO Max is now available to stream in eight new European countries, with a major bundling agreement with Prime Video in key markets like Germany, Italy, and Austria to help the service reach more viewers. The expansion on January 13, 2026, marks a big step for Warner Bros. Discovery’s global streaming service, bringing it to over 100 countries worldwide. This launch includes Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Israel, and Greece. For the first time, people in these countries can sign up directly for HBO Max or access it through partnerships with local telecom and TV providers. The final phase of the European rollout will happen with the launch of HBO Max in the UK and Ireland, scheduled for late March 2026.
New Streaming Countries and Partner Bundles
The service went live in eight new countries on January 13, 2026. The list includes Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Israel, and Greece. This move is part of a larger plan to make HBO Max available across Europe.
A central part of the launch strategy involves making HBO Max available through other popular platforms. In Germany, Italy, and Austria, HBO Max is offered as an add-on channel for Amazon Prime Video customers. This is a multi-year deal that builds on similar partnerships Prime Video already has with HBO Max in France, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Belgium. Qaisar Rafique, an executive at Warner Bros. Discovery, said, “Prime Videoโs vast reach will help us entertain as many people as possible in these new markets”.
Beyond Prime Video, HBO Max has set up several other local partnerships to make signing up easier:
- Germany: HBO Max is bundled with RTL+ for a single subscription price and is also integrated into the waipu.tv platform.
- Italy: The service is offered to customers of TIM through its TIMVISION platform.
- Switzerland: Sunrise and Swisscom provide HBO Max as part of their entertainment packages.
- Israel: Subscribers to Hot and Yes can access HBO Max through their existing platforms.
- Greece: HBO Max continues to be available through Vodafone, which first offered it in February 2025.
Major Titles and Local Content for New Subscribers
People in the new regions get immediate access to HBO Max’s full library. This includes hit HBO series, Warner Bros. movies, and Max Originals. Key shows available at launch are The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Euphoria, House of the Dragon, and Succession. Popular movies like Dune, The Batman, and the Harry Potter series are also on the platform.
Several major new titles are set to premiere soon. The Game of Thrones prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will premiere on January 19, 2026. Other recent additions include Paul Thomas Anderson’s film One Battle After Another and the second season of the medical drama The Pitt, which is new for German viewers. The platform will also be the exclusive home for the popular hockey romance series Heated Rivalry in these markets.
A major upcoming event is the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. HBO Max will stream the games live from February 6 to February 22, 2026, for all subscribers in Europe. Viewers can also add a Sports add-on to get year-round coverage of events like the Australian Open, Roland-Garros tennis, and the Tour de France.
The service is also investing in local-language originals. The first wave begins on February 20, 2026, with the Italian drama Portobello, directed by Marco Bellocchio. A German heist drama based on a true story, Banksters, will get a worldwide premiere on HBO Max in February. Later in the year, subscribers can expect the Italian true-crime drama Melania Rea โ Beyond the Case and the German prequel series 4 Blocks Zero.
