Akshay Kumar’s comedy film Housefull 5 is performing well in its second weekend. The movie collected Rs 26 crore in India during its second weekend. This takes its total earnings to Rs 140.25 crore in 10 days. The worldwide collection has reached Rs 216 crore, and it is expected to finish around Rs 270 crore.
The film saw growth from Rs 5.75 crore on its second Friday to Rs 11 crore on Sunday. This upward trend shows strong audience interest. However, trade experts say the overall numbers are average for a big franchise like Housefull 5. The movie needs to cross Rs 240 crore in India to be called a hit.
Housefull 5 features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Sanjay Dutt. The story revolves around a murder mystery on a luxury cruise ship. The film was made on a big budget of Rs 240 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian comedies.
In its first week, the movie earned Rs 127.25 crore in India. The second weekend saw a good jump, especially on Saturday and Sunday. The film’s occupancy improved as the weekend progressed, with night shows reaching 25.21%. Major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune showed strong numbers.
The overseas performance is also steady. The film has earned $4.91 million (Rs 42.12 crore) internationally. This includes strong collections in the US, UK, UAE, and Australia. The worldwide gross now stands at Rs 227.7 crore, making it one of the top Bollywood releases of 2025.
Trade analysts say Housefull 5 will likely end its run with Rs 175-190 crore in India. A global finish near Rs 270 crore is expected. While not a blockbuster, the film is doing better than most of Akshay Kumar’s recent releases. It has already beaten films like OMG 2, Shaitaan, and Total Dhamaal in worldwide earnings.
The movie faces competition from Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, releasing next week. This may affect its screen count. However, the comedy genre and star power could help it sustain in theaters. The producers have already recovered costs through satellite and digital rights sales.
“The absence of any noteworthy release until Sitaare Zameen Par should benefit its business. Substantial growth on Saturday and Sunday is on the cards,” said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Housefull 5 is the fifth film in the popular Housefull series. It was released in two versionsโHousefull 5A and 5Bโwith different endings. The film’s humor and ensemble cast have been praised by audiences. The day-wise collections show a strong opening weekend but a drop on weekdays.
Here is the 10-day box office breakdown for Housefull 5 in India:
