INFINITE’s Sungyeol will star in KBS2’s new weekend drama “Iron Family” (literal title)!
On June 24, TenAsia reported that Sungyeol has been cast in “Iron Family.” In response to the report, Sungyeol’s agency Management Leesang confirmed, “Sungyeol will be starring in KBS2’s ‘Iron Family.’”
“Iron Family” is a dark comedy that follows a family running a laundry business for three generations. One day, they unexpectedly get unexpected money by chance, allowing them to smooth out the wrinkles in their lives and pursue their dreams. The drama is set to premiere as the successor to “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” and will feature a total of 36 episodes.
Sungyeol will star as Choi Hyung Chul, a lieutenant at the Cheongrim Police Station. Despite being a talented police academy graduate, he is treated like the least accomplished member of his family, where his father is a professor, his mother an artist, his older brother a prosecutor, and his older sister a doctor. Nevertheless, he takes pride in his work as a police officer. In the drama, Choi Hyung Chul develops a romantic relationship with a fellow female officer at the station.
In addition to Sungyeol, Kim Jung Hyun, Geum Sae Rok, Choi Tae Joon, and Yang Hye Ji are also reported to star in the drama. However, their representatives have not yet commented on their casting news.
“Iron Family” is penned by screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang, known for her work on dramas such as “Pasta,” “Don’t Dare to Dream” (also known as “Jealousy Incarnate”), and “Wok of Love.”
