Haley Kalil, the social media star known as Haylee Baylee, made headlines this week after shutting down false rumors about her death. The 32-year-old influencer used her signature humor to address the viral hoax, creating funny videos that quickly spread online.
On May 25, 2025, a video circulated online claiming Kalil had been found dead. The clip showed a photo of her smiling face over Google Earth images of a neighborhood, with a voiceover saying, “Haley Baylee was found dead. The internet is in total shambles.”
Kalil responded by stitching the original video, cutting to a confused selfie where she joked, “I mean, RIP I guess?” She captioned the post, “wait wha-.” Her playful reaction immediately went viral, with fans praising her for handling the situation with humor.
Later that day, she posted a mock memorial video set to Mariah Carey’s One Sweet Day. The clip featured text reading, “Forever in our hearts. Haleyybaylee. August 6, 1992 – May 25, 2025 I guess. Cause of Death: maybe foul play idk yet.”
At the bottom, she added, “A funeral service will be held this week whenever I have time because I think I’m still alive so bring gifts.” She captioned the post, “This was news to me.” Fans flooded the comments with jokes, with one writing, “RIP stay chronically online up there queen.”
Kalil’s career began in pageantry, winning Miss Minnesota Teen USA in 2009 and later Miss Minnesota USA in 2014. She gained wider fame through Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition and her comedic TikTok and YouTube content.
In a past interview, she recalled a pivotal moment when Jared Leto messaged her after the 2023 Met Gala. “I thought it was fake,” she said. “Then I saw the blue checkmark and realized, ‘Oh my gosh, my content is reaching A-listers.’ That’s when I knew this could actually be a career.”
Despite her online persona, Kalil insists she’s down-to-earth. “I promise I’m nice and not crazy all the time,” she joked. “My videos can be manic, but I can be calm. It’s just not as fun.”
The origin of the death rumor remains unclear, but Kalil’s response turned it into a viral moment. She has since returned to posting regular content, proving she’s very much alive.
