Fans of the Apple TV+ film Wolfs, starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, may be disappointed as recent updates indicate that a sequel is unlikely. Director Jon Watts shared this information during a conversation about his upcoming projects, casting uncertainty over plans for a follow-up to the popular action-comedy film.

Director’s Remarks

In a recent interview with Collider, Jon Watts said:

“I don’t know what I’m directing next, and I don’t think there’s going to be a Wolfs sequel.”

This revelation comes just three months after Apple TV+ had reportedly signed a deal with Watts to work on a continuation of the action crime thriller. The director is currently focused on his new Disney+ series, Skeleton Crew, which is set in the Star Wars universe.

Production Insights and Industry Reports

While Apple TV+ has yet to issue an official statement, Variety cited sources close to the production, suggesting that the sequel plans have been scrapped. This news follows a series of strategic decisions by Apple TV+, including scaling back the film’s theatrical release.

Initially, Wolfs was scheduled for a full theatrical run. However, in August, Apple decided on a limited release, premiering the film in theaters on September 20, 2024, for just one week before making it available for streaming on Apple TV+ on September 27, 2024.

Critical and Audience Reception

Despite these developments, Wolfs achieved significant viewership success on the streaming platform, with Apple TV+ declaring it one of the most-watched titles in its history. The film also premiered at the prestigious Venice Film Festival in early September, where lead actors Brad Pitt and George Clooney graced the red carpet.

About the Film

Wolfs is a blend of action and comedy, written and directed by Jon Watts. Alongside Clooney and Pitt, the film features an impressive cast, including Amy Ryan, Richard Kind, and Frances McDormand, known for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The movie showcases the chemistry of the Ocean’s Eleven stars as they once again teamed up for a thrilling caper that delighted audiences worldwide.

For now, fans will have to settle for the original film, as the future of Wolfs 2 appears uncertain.
