Jung Hae In Declines Lead Role in Japanese Drama, Leaving Production in a Tough Spot

Jung Hae In, who was reportedly set to star alongside Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi in an upcoming Japanese drama, has declined the casting offer, according to reports on November 27. This decision has reportedly caused challenges for the production team as they scramble to recast the role.

Drama Production Faces Challenges

The drama, intended to air on the TBS network, was set to begin filming in February 2025. However, Jung Hae In’s unexpected withdrawal has reportedly left the production team struggling to find a replacement. According to sources, his decision also caught Kentaro Sakaguchi, his would-be co-star, off guard.

A Korean media outlet reported:

“The production team is facing difficulties in recasting the role after Jung Hae In’s sudden decision. His withdrawal has delayed plans and caused complications.”

As of now, FNC Entertainment, Jung Hae In’s agency, has not released any official statement regarding the matter.

The Drama’s Plot

The drama was expected to follow the story of a Korean lawyer and a Japanese veterinarian, who initially share a tense relationship but grow to trust each other over time. This cross-cultural friendship was intended to be a key theme of the narrative. Following Jung Hae In’s departure, attention has shifted to who will take over the role of the Korean lawyer.

Jung Hae In’s Recent Achievements

Jung Hae In has had a busy year. In August, he made a successful rom-com comeback with Love Next Door, co-starring Jung So Min, which earned high viewership ratings and praise for their on-screen chemistry. On the big screen, he starred in I, The Executioner (also known as Veteran 2), a box office hit with over 7 million viewers and approximately 70 billion KRW in revenue.

Despite this recent setback for his upcoming Japanese drama, Jung Hae In’s popularity and talent continue to shine, leaving fans eager to see his next project.
