Fans of Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock have a great reason to be excited, as the new movie that will reunite the beloved co-stars is moving forward. The screenwriter, Noah Oppenheim, has shared a major update on the project, confirming that the script is currently being written.
The Screenwriter’s Update
In a recent interview, writer and producer Noah Oppenheim gave a clear picture of the project’s status. He is the writer behind the new film and has worked on movies like Jackie and The Maze Runner.
“I’m deep in it, writing as we speak,” Oppenheim said about his progress on the script. He described the film as a thriller that is built around the special connection between its two stars. “I think the genre is thriller, but it puts the two of them together in a way that captures the unique and exceptional chemistry that people love when they share the screen.” He also shared that both Reeves and Bullock are very involved in the process, calling them “incredible to work with and very hands-on.”
A Long-Awaited Reunion
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock have not shared the screen in nearly two decades, making this project a major event for their fans. Their first film together was the 1994 action classic Speed, where Reeves played LAPD officer Jack Traven and Bullock played Annie Porter. The film was a massive hit and cemented their status as Hollywood stars.
They reunited in 2006 for the romantic fantasy The Lake House. In that film, their characters communicated through a magical mailbox, living in different years but falling in love. Over the years, both actors have expressed interest in working together again. In a 2021 interview, Reeves told Vanity Fair, “I sure hope so. She’s such a wonderful artist and person. And, you know, I think we have good chemistry. And it would be really exciting and interesting to get the chance to perform with her again.”
What We Know About the New Film
The upcoming movie is being developed at Amazon MGM Studios and is officially described as a “propulsive” romantic thriller. While the specific plot is being kept secret for now, the studio’s description and Oppenheim’s comments confirm it will be a thriller that leverages the stars’ famous chemistry.
The project was brought to Reeves and Bullock by Oppenheim and producer Mark Gordon. The trio previously collaborated on Speed. Bullock will produce the film through her company, Fortis Films, and Reeves is also producing. The film does not yet have a director attached, and a release date has not been announced.

Both actors remain highly sought-after and continue to star in major productions. Keanu Reeves is globally known for his roles as Neo in The Matrix series and the title character in the John Wick franchise.
