The new movie Outcome from director Jonah Hill is coming to Apple TV Plus on April 10, 2026. This dark comedy marks Keanu Reeves first major comedy role in years, and the trailer already has people talking.
The film puts Reeves in a very different kind of part. Instead of playing a tough action hero like John Wick or Neo from The Matrix, he plays Reef Hawk, a famous Hollywood actor whose perfect image starts falling apart. A secret video from his past shows up, and someone uses it to blackmail him. Now he has to find out who is behind it before his whole career goes down the drain.
The movie looks at what happens when a celebrity stops being real and starts performing even when the cameras are off. Reef has spent years pretending to be someone he is not. Now that mask is cracking, and he has to face the people he hurt along the way.
Jonah Hill Returns to Directing After Six Years
Jonah Hill directs Outcome as his first narrative movie since Mid90s came out in 2018. He also wrote the script with Ezra Woods and plays Ira, Reefs crisis lawyer. This is Hills third time directing overall, following the documentary Stutz from 2022.
Hill also appears in the movie looking very different from his earlier roles. He lost a lot of weight and grew a full beard, making him hard to recognize at first. During a press day last month, Hill explained what the movie is really about.
“Social media has made us obsessed with what people we don’t know think of us, instead of caring about what the people who know us best think of us.” – Jonah Hill
Star-Studded Cast Includes Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer
Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer join Reeves as his two best friends Kyle and Xander. The three of them have been close for years, and now they have to help Reef clean up his mess. Diaz returns to acting after taking a long break, and this is one of her first movies back.
The cast also includes some unexpected names. Legendary director Martin Scorsese appears in the film. Susan Lucci, Laverne Cox, David Spade, Atsuko Okatsuka, Roy Wood Jr., Kaia Gerber, and Ivy Wolk round out the ensemble.
This is Hills first acting job since You People came out on Netflix in 2023. He also has another comedy called Cut Off scheduled for release on July 17, 2026, through Warner Bros.
What the Trailer Shows About the Story
The Outcome trailer dropped on March 17, 2026, and gives fans a good look at what to expect. Reef Hawk is getting ready for a comeback after staying out of the public eye for five years. During that time, he dealt with a heroin addiction that he planned to keep hidden from everyone.
But things get complicated when Ira finds a video that could destroy Reefs reputation. The trailer shows Reef saying, “I won’t say that I was hiding a heroin addiction from the public and that my best friends and my insane lawyer helped me cover it up for years”.
Ira then tells Reef, “I need to know everyone who hates you. You need to go and apologize to them, and without them realizing it, feel out if they’re the ones behind the video.”
So Reef goes on what the movie calls a soul-searching journey. He tracks down people from his past, apologizes for things he did wrong, and tries to figure out who wants to ruin him. The movie mixes dark humor with real emotional weight as Reef faces the consequences of his actions.
