The adult animated series from Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert arrives on Prime Video with Jason Schwartzman voicing a housecat who leaves his owners after their breakup.

Prime Video is adding a new adult animated comedy to its lineup called Kevin. The show comes from Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert, with Jason Schwartzman providing the voice of the main character. The series tells the story of a housecat who decides to leave his human owners after they break up.

The show will drop all eight episodes on Monday, April 20, 2026. Viewers in more than 240 countries and territories can watch it on Prime Video.

What Is Kevin About?

After his human owners end their relationship, Kevin breaks up with them too. He leaves his comfortable home and moves into a pet rescue center in Astoria, Queens. There, a group of misfit animals helps him figure out what he really wants from life.

The story takes a real-life event as its starting point. A couple broke up, and their cat got caught in the middle. This idea grew into the show’s main plot.

Main Cast and Characters

Jason Schwartzman voices Kevin, a lovable but nervous tuxedo cat. He gives up his sheltered life in a fourth-floor apartment for the adventure of being on his own in New York City.

Aubrey Plaza plays Dana, one half of the human couple. She is a confident and career-driven young woman who makes the grown-up choice to end her relationship. But she gets surprised when Kevin decides to leave on his own.

The show also features a strong group of regular cast members:

  • Whoopi Goldberg voices Cupcake, a wild hairless cat who is proudly feral and always looking for ways to trick others
  • John Waters plays Armando, a sarcastic Persian cat who has rejected all humans
  • Aparna Nancherla voices Judy, a sweet but sick Scottish Fold kitten who stays positive about finding the right human
  • Gil Ozeri plays Seth, the kind man who runs the Furrever Friends pet rescue
  • Amy Sedaris voices Brandi, Seth’s bold little Shih Tzu who actually runs the place

Huge Guest Star List

Prime Video brought in many famous names for guest roles. The list includes Addison Rae, Joe Locke, Cary Elwes, Charles Melton, Nicole Byer, Patti LuPone, Quinta Brunson, and Tig Notaro. Other guests are Debby Ryan, Eugene Cordero, Jim O’Heir, Maria Bamford, and Mike Mitchell.

Title Sequence and Theme Song

The show’s opening features an original song called I’m Coming Home. Jason Schwartzman performs the track. He co-wrote it with series composer Dan Romer. The producers joked that Schwartzman singing his own character’s theme song is memorable.

Who Is Making the Show

Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert created the series. Wengert also serves as showrunner. Dan Murphy, Chris Prynoski, Ben Kalina, Shannon Prynoski, and Antonio Canobbio are executive producers. The animation studio Titmouse handles production, along with Plaza’s Evil Hag Productions and Amazon MGM Studios.

Where to Watch Kevin

All eight episodes of Kevin will be available exclusively on Prime Video starting April 20, 2026. The release happens at the same time for viewers in over 240 countries and territories worldwide, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and India.

About the Creators
