Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born – A Story of Dreams and Rivalries in 1950s Korea
Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born tells the compelling story of Yoon Jeongnyeon, a talented girl from the small village of Mokpo, portrayed by Kim Tae Ri. The drama is set in the 1950s, just after the Korean War, as Yoon Jeongnyeon discovers her passion for opera after witnessing a performance by Kang So Bok’s Maeran Theater Company in her village. Determined to become a top opera actress, she leaves her hometown and travels to Seoul, where she joins the theater company as a trainee.
In Seoul, Yoon Jeongnyeon encounters her rival, Heo Young Seo (played by Shin Ye Eun), another aspiring actress in the theater company. The drama explores their journey and the challenges they face as they strive for success in a post-war era.
Ra Mi Ran plays the role of Kang So Bok, the head of Maeran Theater Company, while Jung Eun Chae and Kim Yoon Hye take on the roles of Moon Ok Kyung and Seo Hye Rang, respectively.
