The “Trance of Kuberaa” teaser gives a gripping look at the film’s intense world. Dhanush plays a homeless man from Mumbai’s Dharavi slums who rises to become a powerful mafia leader. Nagarjuna takes on a complex role, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays a woman seeking more from life. Jim Sarbh appears as a sharp-witted businessman, adding to the tension.
The teaser is driven by a haunting song, “Meri Meri Meri Ye Duniya Saari”, composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The track, sung by Hemachandra Vedala and others, sets the mood for the film’s morally grey universe. Another song, “Naadi Naadi Naadi Naade Yee Lokamantha”, features Dhanush’s vocals and enhances the teaser’s raw energy.
Fans are already praising Dhanush’s transformation, with many predicting a National Film Award for his performance. Social media reactions highlight his bold choice of role, with some saying most senior actors wouldn’t take on such a challenging character.
“There’s a voice within that whispers—even if you’re alone and powerless, you must stand against the whole world. That’s the spirit of Kuberaa,” said director Sekhar Kammula. The film marks his shift from romantic dramas to a gritty thriller, surprising fans with its dark tone.
Shot in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Goa, and Bangkok, the film faced challenges during production, including a title dispute that led to the spelling change from Kubera to Kuberaa. The budget is estimated at ₹90–120 crore, making it one of Dhanush’s most expensive films.
The post-theatrical streaming rights have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video. With its star cast, powerful music, and gripping storyline, Kuberaa is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2025.
