A new LEGO commercial featuring football stars Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Vinícius Jr. has become the talk of the internet. The ad, made for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, showed the four players sitting together building LEGO bricks. But a leaked behind-the-scenes video now suggests things were not as they seemed.
The leaked clip shows actors and stand-ins, not the real football legends, filming parts of the commercial. This discovery has left many fans feeling tricked and questioning whether the stars were ever in the same room.
Fans React to the Fake LEGO Commercial News
Social media exploded after the BTS footage went viral. Many users who had doubts about the ad from the start felt proven right. The original commercial looked almost too good to be true, bringing together four of the biggest names in soccer, who are often rivals on the field.
One user named @orissonline shared their suspicion, saying:
“I knew it was Ai when I saw Ronaldo and Messi on the same desk running advert for a toy company.”
Another fan, @CodedPromis_, pointed out the unlikely friendship between the athletes in the ad:
“I just knew Messi and Cr7 can’t be cool together in a room”
The identity of the person who shared the leaked BTS clips also became a talking point. User @vuyo_thabethe joked about the situation:
“Whoever leaked this has blood on their hands”
A major point of discussion was the cost of hiring such stars. Getting Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappé, and Vinícius Jr. together for a single shoot would cost millions. User @alexfvrrr commented on the budget:
“they probably couldn’t afford to get them all there.”
Others felt the players deserved compensation for their digital likenesses being used in this way. User @bootiedigger wrote:
“Pay Ronaldo Messi and vini a lil bag to use there face”
What the Leaked BTS Video Actually Shows
The behind-the-scenes footage making rounds on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) does not show the soccer stars on set together. Instead, it reveals production crew members and stand-in actors wearing motion capture suits or simply acting out the scenes that were later edited to look like the athletes.
A professional designer known as MHS, who works with the Algerian national team, shared an analysis of the video. He pointed out that an actor was likely used to replace Vinícius Jr. in specific shots. This suggests the final commercial was created using digital editing and visual effects to combine separate filming sessions into one scene where the stars appear to be interacting.
MHS also clarified that the video is not entirely AI-generated. He stated that the content comes from original material related to the project, not automated creation. This means the controversy is more about deceptive editing than about computer-generated imagery.
