Kalybriah Haskin did not make her final decision until the moment she stood at the altar facing Edmond Harvey. In the Love Is Blind Season 9 finale, Edmond said “I do,” but Kalybriah could not, telling him he deserved someone who was “100 percent.” Now, she is sharing the reasons behind her painful choice, revealing a relationship filled with constant arguments, a lack of emotional support, and troubling off-camera comments.
The Final Decision at the Altar
Kalybriah has stated she was still weighing her decision as she walked down the aisle. She wanted the relationship to work because of the person she fell in love with in the pods, but a reality check happened during the ceremony.
โIt wasnโt that I wasnโt having doubts. I was having just as much positive affirmations about it as I was like, okay, letโs also be realistic. Weโve been fighting all the time. We just werenโt meshing,โ Kalybriah explained.
After saying no, her main concern was for Edmond’s feelings. She wanted to make sure he understood that her decision was not a rejection of him as a person, but a redirection. She held back her own tears to comfort him, saving her own breakdown for later when she was alone.
An Empty Cup and a Lack of Support
A central reason for Kalybriah’s decision was a feeling of emotional exhaustion. She described herself as a natural nurturer who constantly gives to her partner. In her relationship with Edmond, she felt this was not being reciprocated.
โI felt like I was constantly giving, constantly nurturingโฆ Iโm a nurturer in general. Like, thatโs just who I am as an individual. I will just feed into a person. And then one day, I realized, โWait, my cup is empty and yours is full,โโ she said.
This dynamic became clear in specific moments. She recalled a time she came home from brunch feeling vulnerable and expressed to Edmond that she didn’t feel like herself and needed more from him. His reported response was, “Yeah, I just hate that you feel that way,” before he walked away. This left her feeling drained and unsupported.
Conflicts Over Finances and Lifestyle
Practical issues also created tension. Kalybriah indicated they struggled to align their lifestyles, and Edmond was hesitant to be open about his finances.
She stated that he would not tell her how much money he made, with remarks like, โOh, Iโm not telling you how much I make until we get to the altar, or until I know your decision at the altar.โ This secrecy was a point of contention, especially since she had been open about her own income.
Arguments persisted right up to the wedding day, making it difficult for her to feel confident about their future together.
Two Different People On and Off Camera
Kalybriah claimed that Edmond acted differently when cameras were rolling versus when they were alone. She told him during the season that he seemed to change once the cameras were on, and she later elaborated on this.
She described there being a lot of “butthole” off-camera moments that were not shown. She alleged he would make comparisons to his exes and comments about her appearance.
โHe did a lot of comparing. It was, โOh, my exes didnโt do this.โ Or it was, โWell, I donโt date women that look like you.โ It would be things like that, or like, โYou come with too much because of how you look,โโ Kalybriah shared.
One specific incident involved a meeting with his mother that did not go as planned. Before cameras arrived, a frustrated Edmond confided that he felt his mother was “never there” for him. When producers asked them to repeat the conversation for filming, Kalybriah was taken aback when Edmond instead said that she wasn’t there for him. These shifting statements made her feel she was constantly in “therapy mode.”
A History of Conflict
Kalybriah and Edmond’s relationship faced public challenges during their time in Mexico. A major argument erupted after a pool party when Edmond discovered they were the only couple who had not had sex, as Kalybriah wished to wait until marriage.
Although Kalybriah had communicated this boundary before the engagement, Edmond became upset. During the argument, he brought up her past sexual encounters, saying, “You let dudes that ain’t even care about youโฆ you let them have sex with you.” Kalybriah felt this showed a sense of entitlement to her body.
Another conflict occurred at a group outing at a rodeo bar. Edmond commented that it would be “crazy” to hear his partner call him perfect, indirectly criticizing Kalybriah for not giving him enough praise, and doing so in front of everyone. This public airing of their issues frustrated Kalybriah, who preferred to work through conflicts privately.
No Regrets Despite the Outcome
Although the relationship ended, Kalybriah expresses no regrets about her journey on the show. She values the personal growth and self-discovery it brought her.
She stated that going through the experience with Edmond, despite its difficulties, taught her valuable lessons about what she will and will not accept in a relationship. It helped her realize the importance of choosing herself.
โBecause no one else would have challenged me the way that he did, and no one else would have taught me the things that he taught me,โ she revealed. โThere was a lot that I learned about myself as an individual, and even more that I learned about myself watching it back. And so, yeah, I definitely would say I have no regrets.โ
The Season 9 reunion special, where the entire Denver pod squad revisits the season’s events, is available to stream on Netflix.
