Ludacris has hinted that the next Fast & Furious movie will be a major event, celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary. While details remain scarce, the actor confirmed his involvement and suggested the series may not truly end, despite Vin Diesel calling it the “finale.”
Ludacris Confirms Fast & Furious 11 Is Coming
Ludacris, who plays Tej Parker in the Fast & Furious series, recently revealed that he is working on one more movie in the franchise. The film is expected to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the first movie, The Fast and the Furious, which debuted in June 2001.
“One more Fast and Furious because it’s the 25-year anniversary… So those are the two big things right now. But that whole 25-year anniversary is definitely gonna be a big one.”
While Vin Diesel has called Fast X: Part 2 the “grand finale,” Ludacris believes the franchise could continue in some form.
Will Fast & Furious Really End After the 11th Movie?
Vin Diesel has repeatedly stated that Fast 11 will conclude the main series. However, Ludacris suggested that the franchise could live on through spin-offs or reboots.
“A lot of other franchises, they may end, but they don’t really end. It’s almost like the beginning of something new, so I don’t feel like it’ll ever truly end either, but you never know.”
The actor also mentioned that Fast X left fans on a cliffhanger, meaning the story isn’t over yet.
“The last one was open-ended, so to speak. It kind of left people hanging. I feel like we are definitely going to come back at some point very soon to surprise everyone. Will it be the last? I don’t know, but we shall see.”
Vin Diesel’s Three Conditions for the Final Movie
At a recent FuelFest event, Vin Diesel shared that Universal asked him to wrap up the franchise by April 2027. He agreed, but only under three conditions:
- Bringing the story back to Los Angeles
- Returning to street racing and car culture
- Reuniting Dom Toretto with Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner
Bringing back Brian O’Conner could involve CGI and voice replication, as Paul Walker passed away in 2013. The actor’s brothers and digital effects were used in Furious 7 to complete his role.
When Will Fast & Furious 11 Release?
Originally, Fast X: Part 2 was set for April 2025, but delays have pushed it to 2026. The exact date is still unconfirmed, but it may align with the franchise’s anniversary in June 2026.
Filming hasn’t started yet, partly due to scheduling conflicts with the star-studded cast. Actor Alan Ritchson (who plays Aimes) explained:
“You’ve got a lot of guys like Dwayne and Vin and Momoa and myself and everybody’s super busy. So trying to get the stars to align so we can make that happen is a feat of nature.”
What to Expect from the Plot
Fast X ended with multiple unresolved storylines:
- Dom is trapped at the bottom of an exploding dam.
- Tej, Roman, Ramsey, and Han are in a crashing plane.
- Letty and Cipher are rescued by Gisele, who was presumed dead.
- Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa) is still targeting Dom’s family.
A Hobbs spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson was also announced, but updates are scarce.
The Future of Fast & Furious
Even if Fast 11 is the last main movie, Universal is exploring spin-offs, including:
- Hobbs & Reyes (Dwayne Johnson & Jason Momoa)
- A female-led spin-off
- Standalone stories within the Fast universe
Ludacris emphasized that the franchise’s “family” theme keeps the cast connected beyond filming.
“We don’t throw around that word family loosely. We say it all the time, but we really mean it… We don’t have to be shooting anything for us to be reuniting.”
