Michelle Yeoh, the star of ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ and ‘Crazy Rich Asians’, is set to headline a new action thriller titled ‘The Mother’. The film will follow Yeoh as an immigrant mother and businesswoman who tries to start a new life for her family in America. However, when her two teenage kids get involved with a dangerous crime gang, she has to use her skills and secrets from her past to save them.

The film is produced by Thunder Road, the company behind the ‘John Wick’ franchise, and AGC Studios, the studio behind ‘Moonfall’ and ‘Midway’. The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra, who previously helmed ‘Late Night’ and ‘The High Note’. The script is written by Misha Green, the creator of ‘Lovecraft Country’ and the upcoming ‘Tomb Raider’ sequel.

The film is expected to start production this summer and will be introduced to buyers at the European Film Market (EFM), which runs from February 15 to 23. The film’s worldwide distribution rights are represented by AGC International and CAA Media Finance.
