The wait is almost over for fans of the Yozakura family. The official website for the Mission: Yozakura Family anime has confirmed that Season 2 will begin broadcasting on April 12, 2026 . Alongside the release date, the production team released a new main trailer and a key visual, giving viewers their best look yet at the upcoming episodes.
April Premiere Date and Broadcast Details
The second season will air every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. JST on MBS, TBS, and 28 affiliated networks across Japan, a timeslot known as the “Nichigo” program block . This confirms the spring 2026 timeline that was initially announced in December 2025 .
Just before the premiere, fans can enjoy a special program on April 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. JST. The show will feature main cast members alongside the artists performing the theme songs .
New Trailer and Theme Song Artists Revealed
The main promotional video, released in early March 2026, showcases new footage from the upcoming season . The trailer also previews the show’s music. Japanese idol group Sakurazaka46 performs the opening theme song, titled “What’s ‘KAZOKU’?” (What’s “Family”) . This marks the group’s first involvement with an anime series . The ending theme, “Shalala,” will be performed by the band Pilaf Alien .

Animation studio SILVER LINK. returns to produce the series . While Mirai Minato directed the first season, he has moved to the role of Chief Director for Season 2. Taking over as director is Takahiro Nakatsugawa, who previously worked as a storyboard artist and episode director on the first season . Minato remains involved by handling the series composition . Key staff members returning include character designer Mizuki Takahashi and music composer Kลji Fujimoto .
Main Cast Returns and New Character Addition
Fans will hear the familiar voices of the Yozakura family when the show returns. The main cast is all reprising their roles, including Reiji Kawashima as Taiyo Asano, Kaede Hondo as Mutsumi Yozakura, and Katsuyuki Konishi as the overprotective brother Kyoichiro Yozakura . Other returning family members include Aoi Yuki (Shion), Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kengo), Kazuyuki Okitsu (Shinzo), and Yumi Uchiyama (Nanao) .
Joining the cast is Kaito Ishikawa, who voices a new character named Sลsuke Michibata . Sลsuke is a classmate of Taiyo and a Bronze-level spy. Descriptions of the character say he has a very low profile and is often unnoticed by others, but he has a weakness for women and sees Taiyo as his sworn rival.
