Veteran actor and Padma Bhushan awardee Mithun Chakraborty was hospitalised in Kolkata on Saturday morning after he complained of chest pain. However, his son Mimoh Chakraborty has assured his fans that the actor is doing well and it was just a routine checkup.

According to sources close to the actor, Mithun Chakraborty was feeling uneasy and was taken to the Apollo Hospital for medical evaluation. He underwent an MRI and other tests under the supervision of a neuromedicine specialist. The hospital spokesperson said that they will provide further details later.

Mimoh, who is also an actor, told indianexpress that his father is “100% fine” and there is nothing to worry about.

Mithun Chakraborty, who has a prolific career in Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri, and Tamil cinema, spanning over five decades, was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India, in January 2024. He expressed his gratitude and dedicated the award to his fans in India and abroad, who have given him unconditional love.

The 73-year-old actor was last seen as a judge in the dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance, along with Mouni Roy, Subhashree Ganguly, Srabanti Chatterjee and Puja Banerjee. He is among the 17 Padma Bhushan recipients this year.
