Netflix has given fans their first good look at its next Korean series. The streaming service released the first official poster for The Wonderfools, a superhero comedy set in 1999. The poster introduces the main cast, led by Cha Eun-woo and Park Eun-bin, and shows a group of characters who look more shocked than heroic.

The series finished filming in May 2025 and is scheduled to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2026. This will be Cha Eun-woo’s first leading role in a Netflix original series.

What The First Poster For The Wonderfools Shows

The newly revealed poster sets a clear tone for the show. It is playful and chaotic, not serious. The image shows four charactersโ€”Cha Eun-woo, Park Eun-bin, Choi Dae-hoon, and Im Sung-jaeโ€”tightly packed together next to a small vehicle.

They all have wide eyes and open mouths, frozen in a moment of pure shock. None look like confident superheroes. Instead, they appear completely overwhelmed.

In the center is Cha Eun-woo’s character, Lee Woonjung. He wears formal clothes and glasses, looking like a strict government worker who feels awkwardly out of place in this wild situation. Next to him is Park Eun-bin as Eun Chae-ni. Her exaggerated expression and mismatched clothes suggest a lively, chaotic personality. Choi Dae-hoon and Im Sung-jae are physically tangled with the others, completing the team of unlikely heroes.

The poster avoids a huge superhero city spectacle. It focuses on everyday places like grocery aisles and restaurants, where normal people suddenly have to act like heroes.

The Wonderfools Plot And Setting

The Wonderfools blends superhero action with comedy. The story is set in 1999 in the fictional Haeseong City. This was a time when many people were anxious about the new millennium and some believed the world might end.

The plot follows a group of ordinary, awkward people from the city. Their lives change when they suddenly develop superhuman abilities. However, there is a big problem: their powers are flawed. These new heroes are called “defective superhumans” because they cannot fully control their abilities or use them whenever they want.

Despite the chaos, this unlikely team must come together to fight dangerous forces that threaten their city’s peace. The series promises to mix superpowers, comedy, and adventure into one entertaining story.

Meet The Cast Of The Wonderfools

The series brings together a popular cast led by two of South Korea’s biggest stars.

  • Cha Eun-woo plays Lee Woonjung (also spelled Lee Un Jeong). He is a K-pop idol from the group ASTRO and a well-known actor. His character is a government worker with a boring life that gets turned upside down when he gets involved with the new superheroes.
  • Park Eun-bin plays Eun Chae-ni (or Eun Chae). She is famous globally for her lead role in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Her character is warm, fun-loving, and a bit chaotic. She works at her grandmother’s local restaurant before gaining strange powers she never asked for.
  • Choi Dae-hoon plays Son Gyeong-un. He is a city hall worker known for complaining a lot.
  • Im Sung-jae plays Kang Ro-bin. He is described as the biggest pushover in the city but will step up to help save the world.

The supporting cast includes respected actors like Kim Hae-sook (Strong Girl Namsoon) and Son Hyun-joo (The Good Detective).

Production Team And Release Information

The Wonderfools has a strong creative team behind the cameras. The series is directed by Yoo In-sik, who previously directed the hit series Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The script is written by Kang Eun-kyung, the creator behind other Netflix successes like Gyeongseong Creature.

Filming for the series started in late October 2024 and was completed on May 22, 2025. The show is confirmed to have 8 episodes.

While an exact premiere date has not been announced, Netflix has officially confirmed that The Wonderfools will be released in 2026. It will be available to stream globally on Netflix.
