Netflix has launched a fresh Korean dating show called Better Late Than Single, focusing on adults who have never been in a romantic relationship. The series, which premiered on July 8, 2025, offers a unique take on love by helping inexperienced singles navigate their first dating experiences.
The show’s Korean title, Motaesolrojiman Yeonaeneun Hago Sipeo, translates to “Even Though I Have Never Dated Before, I Want to Date.” It features a mix of personal makeovers, emotional coaching, and group living to help participants build confidence and find love.
How Better Late Than Single Works
The show has two main phases. First, contestants go through a six-week transformation program that includes styling, fitness training, meal plans, and communication coaching. This prepares them for the next stage, where they live together for nine days and go on dates.
PD Jo Wook-hyung, one of the producers, said: “We verified their single status through interviews with family and friends. We wanted genuine people who are ready to open up to love.”
The cast includes No Jae-yun, Ha Jeong-mok, Kang Hyun-ku, Kim Ji-su, Kim Seung-li, Lee Seung-chan, Kim Yo-myung, Kim Sang-ho, Park Ji-yeon, Lee Min-hong, and Yi Do. All were chosen from over 4,000 applicants after strict background checks.
Meet the Cupid Experts
The show has four celebrity mentors called Cupid Experts:
- Seo In-guk (singer-actor)
- Kang Han-na (actress)
- Lee Eun-ji (comedian)
- Car, the garden (musician)
Unlike typical dating show hosts, these mentors work closely with participants, offering one-on-one advice.
Kang Han-na shared: “Some people miss chances because they don’t express their feelings. I tell my mentees to be brave and speak up.”
Creative Matchmaking Methods
The show uses fun activities to help participants connect. In one episode, a claw machine challenge decides who goes on dates. Another twist is the Singles Diary, where contestants answer 100 personal questions to reveal their personalities.
Lee Eun-ji explained: “We want to create natural moments. Dating isn’t just about looks—it’s about understanding someone’s heart.”
Why This Show Stands Out
Unlike other dating shows like Single’s Inferno, which focus on drama, Better Late Than Single is about growth. Many participants have never dated due to shyness, past trauma, or societal pressure. The show aims to change that.
Producer Kim No-eun said: “This isn’t just a makeover. It’s about helping people believe they deserve love.”
Release Schedule and Global Appeal
The show has 10 episodes, with new batches airing every Tuesday until July 29, 2025. Netflix hopes its emotional and relatable approach will attract viewers worldwide.
Fans on social media are already calling it “the most wholesome dating show” and praising its focus on sincerity over drama.
