Police Discuss Latest Developments in BTS’ SUGA’s Electric Scooter DUI Case
BTS’ SUGA, the globally famous member of the K-pop group BTS and acclaimed music producer, is currently involved in a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) case. Recent developments in the case have sparked widespread attention, especially after the latest comments from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
Police Yet to Decide on Public Summons for SUGA
In a press conference held on August 12, 2024, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency addressed the ongoing investigation into SUGA’s DUI case. According to a report from Xports News, police officials stated that no date has been finalized for a public summons for SUGA. The police are still in the process of gathering information and tracing SUGA’s movements on the night of August 6, 2024, when he was arrested for driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol.
An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency mentioned that they have confirmed SUGA’s route and the final distance traveled through “reverse tracing.” However, they emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing, making it difficult to provide further details at this time.
“We have confirmed the final distance traveled and the route taken, but it is difficult to confirm anything as the investigation is still underway,” the police official commented.
Public or Private Investigation? Police Comments on SUGA’s Request
There has been speculation regarding whether SUGA would request a private investigation instead of appearing publicly for the summons. When asked about this during the briefing, the police official clarified that SUGA had not requested a private summons, indicating that a public appearance may be expected.
The official response from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has added to the anticipation surrounding the case, especially since no public summons date has been set yet.
“At this point, SUGA has not requested a private summons, so it remains possible that he might make a public appearance for the DUI case investigation,” the police official stated.
SUGA’s Military Enlistment and Legal Troubles
As of now, SUGA is serving his military enlistment as a social service worker, having enlisted in September 2023. The legal troubles surrounding his recent DUI case have raised concerns among fans and the general public alike.
The incident in question occurred on the night of August 6, 2024, when SUGA was arrested after falling near his residence while parking his electric scooter. It was reported that SUGA was driving under the influence of alcohol in the Yongsan Gu area of Seoul.
Notably, the police confirmed that the electric scooter SUGA was driving that night is not classified as personal mobility. Consequently, the case will be treated with the same seriousness as a drunk driving incident involving a car.
