Korean netizens have condemned the poster.
NewJeans‘ Hanni has become the latest female idol to fall victim to fat-shaming comments. This time Korean netizens are having none of it and fiercely defending the young star.
NewJeans are currently promoting their Japanese releases “Supernatural” and “Right Now.” To do so, the group has appeared on many variety shows to perform the songs on stage.
A screencap of Hanni during one of their recent performance caught netizens’ eye, and it has since gone viral on multiple Korean community sites — with one post on Pann reaching over 74,000 views. Sadly, the post targets Hanni’s weight and physique instead of talking about her amazing performance.
NewJeans’ bodies are going downhill. Really..? Totally chubby girls.

It didn’t take long for netizens to realize the screenshot taken shows Hanni in the middle of a body roll, making her stomach appear larger than it is.
Regardless of the post’s views, the original poster’s targeted comments don’t seem to be supported by the majority.
Instead, netizens have since rallied behind Hanni and they have fiercely defended her in the comments. Many have pointed out that Hanni’s rising popularity is the reason behind such posts starting to go viral. Others insisted that Hanni’s tiny waist and wide hips make for an amazing body.
- “She’s slim? Worry about your own leader’s belly fat. He’ll be taking that belly fat with him to the grave.”
- “? Hani has an amazing body with a tiny waist and wide hips. She’s absolutely gorgeous.”
- “Hani’s fancam of ‘Aoi Sangoshou’ hit 5 million views~~ It’s about to blow up (If they bash her on the Girl’s Planet gallery, she’ll gain popularity). It’s starting, right? lol”
- “Stop showing off.”
- “The original poster must be the one with a terrible body from the start. I can already see your chubby fingers typing on the keyboard.”
