NewJeans marked the end of their tenure with ADOR and HYBE with a pre-recorded performance at the Golden Disc Awards on January 4, 2025. The event, initially scheduled for January 4 and 5, was moved to January 6 and 7 due to a national mourning period in South Korea following the Jeju Air crash, which tragically resulted in 179 deaths.

NewJeans performed alongside other prominent K-pop acts at the awards show. They showcased some of their biggest hits including “How Sweet,” “Supernatural,” and “Attention.” Their performance was notable not just for their music but also for the emotional moment that followed.

Dressed in matching white outfits, the group’s stage presence was as compelling as ever. Their efforts were recognized with two awards: the Cosmopolitan Artist Award and Best Digital Song for “How Sweet.”

The highlight of their appearance came post-performance when Minji, the oldest member, gathered the group for what appeared to be a heartfelt and symbolic group hug. This gesture was interpreted by fans as an emotional farewell to their time with ADOR.

“Fans interpreted this moment as a symbolic gesture of the end of their journey with ADOR. Some have even taken it as a sign of celebration that the group is finally ‘free’ from the label.”

This last act under ADOR sparked a range of emotions among fans, with many feeling a mix of sadness for the end of an era and excitement for what the future holds for NewJeans as they move forward independently.
