The chaotic relationship between actor Lim Hyun-joon and reporter Wi Jeong-sin gets even more complicated in the latest episodes of Nice to Not Meet You. A hospital stay, an accidental overdose, and a disastrous blind date push the two rivals closer together, while a published secret threatens to destroy Hyun-joon’s career.
A Contract and A Crisis
Meanwhile, Hyun-joon’s personal life is unraveling. He is shaken when a promising new movie project turns out to co-star his ex-girlfriend, Kwon Se-na, who once told him to leave the acting industry. In a vulnerable moment, overwhelmed by memories of his mother blaming him for her failed career, Hyun-joon takes an excessive amount of sleeping pills. His manager, Hwang Ji-sun, finds him unconscious and rushes him to the hospital. Hyun-joon later clarifies that he did not want to die and that the overdose was a terrible mistake.
The tension between Hyun-joon and Jeong-sin escalates when Hyun-joon offers the reporter a formal contract. He proposes exclusive interviews in exchange for his final approval on everything she writes. Jeong-sin, fiercely protective of her journalistic integrity, angrily rejects the offer and storms out.
An Exclusive Interview and An Emergency Rescue
By a twist of fate, Jeong-sin is in the same hospital recovering from an appendectomy. Her boss, Yoon Hwa-young, sees an opportunity and orders Jeong-sin to get a scoop on Hyun-joon’s condition. Jeong-sin sneaks into his hospital room but is caught when a noisy bodily function gives away her hiding spot in the bathroom.
Begrudgingly, Hyun-joon agrees to an interview so he can control the narrative.
This leads to an exclusive interview where Hyun-joon explains his side of the story. Later that night, the two cross paths on the hospital rooftop. Jeong-sin’s surgery wound suddenly reopens, causing her to collapse. Finding the rooftop door locked, Hyun-joon smashes through the glass, barefoot, to carry her to safety. His heroic act is caught on camera, going viral and helping to repair his public image after the overdose rumors.
A Disastrous Blind Date
In a separate scheme, Hyun-joon and Jeong-sin’s younger brothers set them up on a blind date without revealing their identities. Both leads are initially pleasantly surprised by their mysterious date. However, the moment they recognize each other, the meeting turns sour. They quickly start arguing, primarily about their brothers’ friendship, and end the date early.
Despite the bickering, the date leaves a lasting impression. Hyun-joon finds himself thinking about Jeong-sin and even looks up her past work as a respected political reporter, developing a sense of admiration for her.
A Mother’s Secret and A Public Panic Attack
A major conflict arises when Jeong-sin discovers that Hyun-joon’s mother, Song Ae-sook, is a former erotic film actress. Under pressure from her boss Hwa-young, who seems to have a personal grudge against Hyun-joon, Jeong-sin writes an article exposing this family secret. The article is published right as Hyun-joon is beginning a press conference for a ramyeon endorsement.
Reporters immediately bombard him with questions about his mother and his childhood. The intense scrutiny triggers a severe panic attack, forcing him to leave the event. He later confronts Jeong-sin, who argues that he should not be ashamed of his mother’s work. While Jeong-sin feels guilty, the damage is done, and Hyun-joon is left to deal with the emotional fallout.
New Troubles and An Old Mystery
As the episodes conclude, new challenges emerge for both characters. Hyun-joon learns that the difficult director Park Byeong-gi will be helming the new season of his “Detective Kang Pil-gu” series, causing him great distress.
At the same time, Jeong-sin’s own investigation takes a surprising turn. Her source from the hostess bar scandal reveals that a key person was missing from the evidence video: Kwon Se-na. This connects Hyun-joon’s ex directly to the corruption case that got Jeong-sin demoted, suggesting their worlds are more deeply intertwined than anyone knew.
