Nicki Minaj and Cardi B Reignite Feud in Heated Twitter Exchange

A long-running hip-hop rivalry has exploded once again on social media. Nicki Minaj and Cardi B exchanged a series of sharp posts on X (formerly Twitter) this week, trading personal insults and arguing over album sales just days after Cardi B’s new project, “Am I the Drama?” debuted at the top of the charts.

The online argument, which took place on September 29, quickly captured fan attention as the two rappers traded insults about music, success, and even each other’s families. This marks the most recent chapter in a feud that has lasted for years.

The Spark That Lit the Fire

The exchange began when Nicki Minaj posted a cryptic message that fans interpreted as the start of a new confrontation. She tweeted, “Never provoke a writer while theyโ€™re writing,” and added, “Let the reindeer games begin,” while also promoting her own upcoming album scheduled for March 27, 2026.

Nicki then posted a series of tweets, which have since been deleted, that directly targeted Cardi B’s new album. One post simply read “$4.99,” seemingly referencing the promotional iTunes price of Cardi’s “Am I the Drama?” album. She also mocked lyrics from Cardi’s song “Magnet,” rewriting them into personal disses.

“Abcdefgeeeeeeee. SUR GER REE TO LOOK LIKE MEEEEEE / tell the rat & tell J ZEEEEEE / Rico Fraud & PERJURY,” Nicki tweeted.

In another post, she referenced Cardi’s pregnancy: “Fallin off the charts wit a big bellyyyy / RUNNING TRAINS. Barefoot, still smellyyyyy / Still. You. Could. Not. outsell. meeeeee.”

Cardi B Fires Back

Cardi B did not stay quiet in response to the attacks. She quickly fired back with her own series of posts, labeling Nicki “Cocaine Barbie” and responding to the disses about her album and pregnancy.

“Damn she was streaming ‘Magnet’ hard as hell huh??” Cardi tweeted, suggesting Nicki had been closely studying her music.

One of Cardi’s most pointed responses addressed what she saw as an unfair comparison between their careers. She argued that they shouldn’t be considered direct peers because of their different career stages.

“Why you keep bringing up my album?? It’s not the gag that you think it is.. You been in the game like 16 years.. you need to compare yourself to YOUR peers that started around YOUR time. Rihanna, Taylor swift, Drakeโ€ฆthose are the numbers you need to be competing wit and you can’t cuz you doing lower than all of themโ€ฆ I was in high school when you came out wtf is you comparing yourself to me for???”

Personal Digs Escalate the Conflict

The exchange grew more intense as it turned toward deeply personal matters. When Nicki continued to make comments about her pregnancy, Cardi responded with a harsh tweet about Nicki’s fertility.

“Alright now this the third tweet talkin about my pregnancyโ€ฆ like you wasn’t going to different fertility doctors cuz you couldn’t reproduce from all them percs scrambling your eggs. NOT ALLEGEDLY โ€ฆLord protect my babies,” Cardi wrote.

Cardi also used the structure of her own “Magnet” lyrics to craft new disses aimed at Nicki and her family.

“A B C D E F G / Your man have to snatch PUSSY / Pussy taste like honey comb / Your bro be touching 12 year olds,” Cardi tweeted, referencing the legal troubles of Nicki’s brother.

The Album at the Center of the Storm

The timing of this conflict coincides with the successful debut of Cardi B’s album “Am I the Drama?” The project recently reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified double platinum in its first week, making Cardi the first female rapper to have her first two albums open at the top of the chart.

Nicki Minaj, meanwhile, emphasized her own chart achievements during the exchange, pointing out that her 2023 album “Pink Friday 2” still holds the record for the biggest debut for a female rap album this decade with 228,000 units in its first week. This compares to the 200,000 units that Cardi’s “Am I the Drama?” earned in its first week.

Interestingly, just days before this explosive exchange, Cardi had appeared on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast and suggested she was moving past the long-standing conflict. “Sometimes, people just don’t get along with each other,” she said at the time, without mentioning Nicki by name. She also denied rumors that she was an “industry plant” meant to replace another rapper, a theory that has circulated for years.

Others Join the Fray

The confrontation between the two rap stars quickly drew attention from others in the music industry. Rapper Ice Spice tweeted a simple laughing emoji from the sidelines, while JT from City Girls actively joined the dispute against Cardi B.

“Lol that bitch home ugly & mad no celebration!” JT wrote of Cardi. “I would’ve been break dancing right now if I was #1 but she know she lied!!!!!”

JT’s involvement continues tension that began on Cardi’s album itself, where she included diss lines aimed at the City Girls rapper on the track “Magnet.”

A History of Tension

The conflict between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B is not new. Their rivalry dates back years, notably including a physical confrontation at a New York Fashion Week party in 2018. While they collaborated early in Cardi’s career on the Migos track “Motorsport” in 2017, their relationship has been largely contentious since.

Cardi’s new album “Am I the Drama?” already contained several diss tracks aimed at other artists, including lines that fans interpreted as targeting Nicki Minaj. On the song “DEAD,” she raps, “Guess who doing shows for damn near free and pockets hurting?” which many listeners believed was directed at Nicki.

As the social media argument continued, both rappers shared memes and images mocking each other, with Nicki sharing content referencing the character Barney and Cardi posting about pink wigs associated with Nicki’s “Barbie” persona. The extensive back-and-forth has once again placed the two artists at the center of hip-hop conversation, proving their long-standing competition remains as intense as ever.
