Fans of the hit Netflix rom-com can finally mark their calendars. The much-anticipated second season of Nobody Wants This is set to premiere on October 23, 2025, and star Kristen Bell has given fans a sneak peek into what to expect, describing the new season as “funny, heartfelt, provocative.” The show picks up with agnostic podcaster Joanne and rabbi Noah navigating the complexities of a committed relationship after their dramatic season one finale.

The Story Continues

The first season of Nobody Wants This followed the unlikely romance between Joanne, a sex-positive agnostic podcaster, and Noah, a kindhearted rabbi. Their whirlwind romance faced immense pressure from their different worlds, culminating in a cliffhanger. Joanne, realizing she wasn’t ready to convert to Judaism, broke things off so Noah could pursue his dream of becoming head rabbi. In a grand romantic gesture, Noah chased after her, choosing love over his career in the final moments.

Season two delves into the consequences of that decision. The official synopsis reveals the couple is now “fully committed to merging their lives โ€” and loved ones โ€” together.” However, their core differences still exist and can’t be ignored. The new challenge is not just falling in love against all odds, but staying together in spite of them. The official trailer shows the couple in the honeymoon phase, but also hints at tensions, with friends questioning their plans and Noah directly asking Joanne, “Are we doomed?”

Star-Studded Cast and New Faces

The core cast returns, with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody reprising their roles as Joanne and Noah. They are joined again by Justine Lupe as Joanne’s sister, Morgan, and Timothy Simons as Noah’s brother, Sasha. Jackie Tohn, who played Sasha’s wife Esther, has been promoted to a series regular for the new season.

This season also introduces several exciting guest stars. Leighton Meester, who is married to Adam Brody in real life, joins the cast as Abby, Joanne’s middle school nemesis who is now an Instagram mommy influencer. Seth Rogen will appear as Rabbi Neil. Other new faces include Miles Fowler as Lenny, Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate; Alex Karpovsky as Big Noah, an overly confident rabbi at Noah’s temple; and Arian Moayed as Dr. Andy, a charming psychotherapist who might be a match for Morgan.

Behind the Scenes

For the second season, the show brought on new leadership. Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, both known for their work on Girls, joined as executive producers and showrunners. Series creator Erin Foster remains an executive producer and expressed her excitement about the collaboration.

โ€œIโ€™m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who Iโ€™ve been such a fan of since Girls,” Foster said. “Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!โ€

Konner and Kaplan echoed the sentiment, calling the opportunity to work on the show a “dream.”

A Soundtrack for the Season

Adding to the excitement, the show will release a full soundtrack. Nobody Wants This Season 2: The Soundtrack will be available on October 23, the same day the season premieres. The album features 19 tracks from a wide range of popular artists, including Selena Gomez, Teddy Swims, Kacey Musgraves, FINNEAS, and Chris Stapleton. The soundtrack is available for pre-save on music streaming platforms.

Fan Excitement and Final Prep

The show has developed a dedicated fanbase since its debut, with its relatable take on modern relationships and family dynamics. Interestingly, the appeal seems to cross generations. Bell has noted that many fans tell her their fathers love the show.

“This has happened to me, I’m going to say โ€” and I don’t think I’m exaggerating โ€” six times where I’ve had different women in my lifeโ€ฆ like a girl in my choir class was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start watching your show. I haven’t seen it yet. My dad told me to watch it,’” Bell shared. “I’m not joking. Everybody’s dad has seen this show and is telling them to watch it.”

For those looking to catch up or re-watch the beginning of Joanne and Noah’s story, all 10 episodes of Season 1 are available to stream on Netflix.
