The world of Briar University is getting much bigger. Prime Video has added 18 new recurring cast members to its upcoming series Off Campus, the television adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s bestselling hockey romance books. This major casting expansion brings a mix of emerging talent and seasoned actors who will populate the campus with friends, rivals, professors, and townsfolk, creating a richer world for the core hockey players and their love interests.
The new actors will appear in recurring roles throughout the first season, which is based on the first book in Kennedy’s series, The Deal.
Meet the 18 New Cast Members
The streamer has confirmed the full list of 18 actors joining the show. The group includes AJ Abell, Francesca Bianchi, Kai Bradbury, Karis Cameron, Josh Chambers, Riley Davis, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Chelah Horsdal, and Quinten James.
They are joined by Dylan Kingwell, Riley Orr, Lauren Patten, Frankie Randysek, Brandon Scott, Jennifer Spence, Julia Sarah Stone, Marlee Walchuk, and Chad Willett.
This wave of casting adds a significant number of players to the Off Campus universe. Rather than just background characters, these roles are expected to be meaningful parts of the campus ecosystem, influencing the lives of the main characters. They will portray a range of characters, including dorm mates, campus adversaries, professors, parents, and local townspeople.
How the New Cast Fits into Briar U
This large addition to the cast allows the show to explore more storylines beyond the central romance. The supporting characters are expected to have their own mini-arcs, giving viewers a broader look at college life. The expanded world will include elements like exes, homecoming events, competing sports teams, and family dynamics.
AJ Abell brings a unique connection to the series’ theme; he began his acting career as a child before stepping away to play competitive hockey. Francesca Bianchi, an Australian performer with a theatre background, has also worked as a dialect coach on major productions. Kai Bradbury, known for his role in Virgin River, continues his collaboration with Prime Video with this new part.
The Story and Main Characters of Off Campus
The series follows the elite ice hockey team at Briar University and the women in their lives as they deal with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. The first season will focus on the “opposites attract” romance between Hannah Wells, a quiet songwriter who dislikes hockey, and Garrett Graham, the team’s all-star playboy center.
They are joined by Garrett’s teammates and friends, who are set to become the leads in future seasons. These include John Logan, Dean Di Laurentis, and John Tucker. The cast also includes Hannah’s best friend, Allie Hayes, and her rock-star crush, Justin Kohl.
The main cast features Ella Bright as Hannah and Belmont Cameli as Garrett. They are joined by Mika Abdalla, Antonio Cipriano, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Josh Heuston, and Stephen Kalyn as series regulars. Steve Howey and Khobe Clarke were previously announced for major recurring roles.
Behind the Scenes and Series Release
Off Campus is being adapted for television by Louisa Levy, who also serves as an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Gina Fattore. The series is produced by Temple Hill, the production company behind popular young adult adaptations. Author Elle Kennedy is also serving as a producer on the project.
Filming for the first season began in June 2025 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The University of British Columbia stands in for the fictional Briar University. While an exact premiere date has not been set, Prime Video has confirmed that Off Campus will launch in 2026 and will be available to stream in over 240 countries.
