Hwichan Accused of Molesting Former CEO
OMEGA X member Hwichan has been referred to the prosecution on accusations of sexually assaulting his former agency’s CEO. Seoul Seongdong Police Station forwarded Hwichan to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office on charges of forcible molestation on August 1.
Controversy Surrounding the Allegations
The controversy dates back to March when Spire Entertainment, the group’s former agency, held a press conference. During the event, Spire alleged that Hwichan, distressed about his impending military service, was being consoled by former CEO Kang when he allegedly molested Kang.
The agency also presented CCTV footage that they claimed supported their allegations.
Initial Reluctance to Press Charges
Spire Entertainment initially hesitated to press charges against Hwichan. They stated that they did not want to label a young idol as a sex offender. However, they decided to move forward with the charges after members of OMEGA X accused Kang of forced molestation, portraying him as the victim.
In response to these allegations, OMEGA X countered, asserting that Hwichan’s actions were coerced by Kang.
Ongoing Legal Battle
The dispute between OMEGA X and Spire Entertainment has been ongoing since November 2022. Both parties have been embroiled in a legal battle to uncover the truth behind the molestation allegations and other related issues.
