The current season of Oshi no Ko is preparing to end with a special extended broadcast. The anime’s official team confirmed that the third season finale will run for a full hour, giving viewers twice the normal amount of content for the closing episode.
The announcement came through the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, revealing that episode 35, which marks the end of season 3, will air as a one-hour special. This marks a significant moment for the series as it moves into the most talked-about part of the original manga story.
Finale Air Date and What Makes This Episode Special
The Oshi no Ko Season 3 finale is scheduled to broadcast on March 25, 2026, in Japan. For viewers outside Japan, streaming platforms like Crunchyroll and HIDIVE will carry the extended episode with English subtitles and dubbing options.
The season has run for 10 episodes so far, with the 11th episode serving as the finale. A one-hour runtime means this final episode will contain roughly double the content of a standard installment. This is similar to how the very first episode of the entire series debuted as a 90-minute special back in April 2023.
Where the Story Stands Before the Finale
The third season picked up six months after the events of the “POP IN 2” release. Ruby Hoshino continues climbing the entertainment world using lies as her weapon to uncover the truth behind her mother Ai Hoshino’s death and the murder of Dr. Gorou Amemiya. Meanwhile, Aqua Hoshino has grown into a multi-talented entertainer, and Akane Kurokawa is building her reputation as a serious actress. Kana Arima, however, has lost her usual cheerfulness as the pressures of the industry weigh on her.
The recent episodes have pushed the story toward its endgame. After the scandal arc revealed Aqua and Ruby’s identities as Ai’s children to the public, the series confirmed that a movie based on Ai’s life—titled “The 15-Year Lie”—will serve as the final act to expose the person responsible for Ai’s murder. The latest episode covered up to Chapter 118 of the original manga.
What to Expect From the 1-Hour Finale
With an hour-long runtime, the finale is expected to cover several important chapters from the manga. Reports suggest it will go beyond Chapter 125, setting up the remaining material for what could be the anime’s final season.
The extended episode will kick off the movie arc, which manga readers consider one of the most critical parts of the entire story. This arc reveals the full truth about Ai Hoshino’s past and brings Aqua’s revenge mission to its most intense point.
Takeo Otsuka voices Aqua Hoshino, with Yurie Igoma as Ruby Hoshino. The main cast also includes Megumi Han as Kana Arima, Manaka Iwami as Akane Kurokawa, Rumi Okubo as MEMcho, and Rie Takahashi as Ai Hoshino.
Production Team Behind Season 3
Doga Kobo continues as the animation studio for the third season, maintaining the high production quality seen in previous seasons. Daisuke Hiramaki returns as director, with Jin Tanaka handling series composition and Kanna Hirayama designing the characters. The same core team worked on seasons 1 and 2, ensuring consistency in the show’s visual style and storytelling.
The third season’s ending theme, “Serenade,” is performed by singer-songwriter natori, who previously worked on “Wind Breaker.” Natori mentioned he wrote the song thinking about Aqua’s character and the darkness he carries throughout the story.
