The music of Percy Jackson and The Olympians is back for a second quest. As Percy, Annabeth, and their friends dive into the perils of the Sea of Monsters, a new mix of classic songs and an original score sets the tone for their adventures. The show’s second season, which began streaming on December 10, 2025, uses music to highlight key moments, from high-energy action to emotional story turns. This guide details every confirmed song, the original score by award-winning composer Bear McCreary, and where you can listen to the official soundtrack.
Songs Featured in Season 2 Episodes
The soundtrack for the new season’s first two episodes features a selection of well-known tracks that match the story’s energy and emotional beats. These songs are used strategically within scenes to improve the storytelling.
As of December 17, 2025, with two episodes available, four songs have been featured. New songs are expected in upcoming episodes.
Episode 1: “I Play Dodgeball With Cannibals”
- “Good Times Roll” by The Cars: This upbeat rock song plays early in the episode.
- “Fight the Power” by Public Enemy: The hip-hop anthem is featured during a critical scene.
- “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” by The Supremes: The classic Motown track adds a specific mood to a character moment.
Episode 2: “Demon Pigeons Attack”
- “Emotions” by Mariah Carey: This 1991 hit plays a major role in the plot. Percy and Annabeth use the song’s high-pitched notes to scare away a flock of dangerous Stymphalian birds.
Executive producer Craig Silverstein explained the choice to use Mariah Carey instead of the Dean Martin song from the book: “We started thinking about other music Chiron might listen toโฆ I remember listening to [‘Emotions’] as a kid and just being shocked when she hit that high noteโฆ it all worked, we got it, and I’m very happy that we did.”
Bear McCreary’s Original Score and Soundtrack Release
Beyond the featured songs, the musical world of Percy Jackson is built by composer Bear McCreary. Known for his work on major series like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Walking Dead, McCreary crafts the show’s original themes and score through his production company, Sparks & Shadows.
The official soundtrack album for Season 2 will be available for digital download and streaming starting December 19, 2025. The album will include selections of McCreary’s original score from the new season. This follows the release of the Season 1 soundtrack in December 2023.
