What to Expect in “Got Milk”
The upcoming episode continues the tense story of Carol Sturka, one of the few people immune to a global alien virus that has turned humanity into a peaceful, hive-minded collective known as “the Joining.”
The official description for “Got Milk” from Apple TV states:
โCarol doubles down on her investigationโloneliness be damned. Meanwhile, howls in the night reveal a new source of danger.โ
This follows a major cliffhanger in Episode 4, “Please, Carol.” In that episode, Carol learned that the hive-minded people, called “the Others,” are incapable of lying. In her desperate search for a way to reverse the Joining, Carol administered a truth serum to her designated Other liaison, Zosia. The episode ended with Zosia collapsing to the floor as the collective hive mind rushed to her aid.
The Stars of the Show
Pluribus features a cast led by Rhea Seehorn, who audiences will recognize from her acclaimed role as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. She plays the protagonist, Carol Sturka, a fantasy romance novelist who is immune to the virus and now must navigate a world she finds terrifyingly cheerful.
A key member of the cast is Karolina Wydra, who plays Zosia, the serene and compassionate representative of the hive mind assigned to Carol. In an interview, Wydra discussed the challenge of playing a character who is part of a vast collective. She described Zosia and the Others as having a “biological imperative” to share their gift of peace.
โFor me, the challenge was to not go on this emotional journey and mirror Rheaโs emotions,โ Wydra said. โIโm a very expressive and reactionary human being, so holding that in was incredible. It made me pause and hold space for other people more in my life because I was doing this day in, day out for Carol.โ
The main cast also includes Carlos Manuel Vesga as Manousos, Miriam Shor as Helen, and Samba Schutte as Koumba Diabatรฉ.
