Police Decide Not to Prosecute Former THE BOYZ Member Ju Haknyeon in Prostitution Case

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station confirmed on July 2 that they will not pursue charges against former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon regarding allegations of engaging in prostitution. This decision comes after a complaint was filed in June, which the police dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

Ju Haknyeon faced controversy in May after reports surfaced that he met with former Japanese adult actress Asuka Kirara at a private bar in Tokyo. Following the allegations, his agency, Cre.ker Entertainment, terminated his contract, leading to his withdrawal from THE BOYZ.

Background of the Allegations

The controversy began when online reports claimed Ju Haknyeon had inappropriate interactions with Asuka Kirara. While some speculated about possible illegal activities, Haknyeon strongly denied any wrongdoing. He also questioned the abrupt termination of his contract and announced plans to take legal action against those spreading false claims.

“The accusations are completely untrue, and I will take strong legal measures against those who spread false information,” Haknyeon stated in a previous response.

A formal complaint requesting an investigation was filed on June 19, but the police concluded that the allegations lacked concrete evidence.

Police Decision and Reasoning

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station explained their decision, stating:

“The complaint was based on internet articles, and there was no specific evidence or circumstances justifying an investigation. Therefore, we have decided to dismiss the case.”

The accuser, however, expressed disappointment with the decision, arguing that media reports have previously led to formal investigations in similar cases.

“It’s disappointing that the police dismissed this case simply because the requirements for an investigation were not met. This does not mean the accusations are false,” the accuser stated.

Ju Haknyeonโ€™s Future Steps

Haknyeon has maintained his innocence throughout the controversy. His legal team previously indicated that they would pursue defamation lawsuits against those responsible for spreading false allegations.

Fans of THE BOYZ have shown mixed reactions, with some supporting Haknyeon and others expressing concern over the groupโ€™s reputation.

“I hope the truth comes out and Haknyeon gets justice,” one fan commented online.
“This situation has hurt the groupโ€™s image, and itโ€™s sad to see,” another fan wrote.

The K-pop industry has seen similar cases where idols face legal battles over false accusations. Legal experts note that defamation lawsuits can take time, but if Haknyeonโ€™s claims are proven, he may seek damages for reputational harm.

As of now, Cre.ker Entertainment has not issued further statements regarding Haknyeonโ€™s status or potential legal actions.
