Netizens are having severe second male lead syndrome with a new K-Drama.
JTBC‘s new K-Drama Miss Night and Day (also known as She’s Different from Night to Day) stars Lee Jung Eun (Parasite), Apink‘s Jung Eunji, and Choi Jin Hyuk (The Heirs, Tunnel) as Lim Sun/the middle-aged Lee Mi Jin, 28-year-old Lee Mi Jin, and prosecutor Gye Ji Woong, respectively.
Miss Night and Day tells the story about a job seeker who is suddenly stuck in old age one day and a prosecutor who is caught up in her all the time. Lim Soon, a woman in her 50s, is a secondary character to Lee Mi-jin, who goes to work as a public intern when the sun rises.

Over the course of the show, Lee Mi Jin has developed feelings for Ji Woong. He has also begun liking her, but specifically the younger version of her.
On the other hand, there’s a man who likes both versions of Mi Jin.
Baek Seo Hoo (Café Minamdang, Heartbeat) portrays Ko Won, a member of the fictional K-Pop group Kingland, who is fulfilling his mandatory military service as an alternative service worker at the Seohan Prosecutors’ Office.
After Mi Jin saves Ko Won from an attack, he becomes grateful to her and befriends her. He brings her coffee every day, and they grow closer.
Over time, he observes her and eventually discovers her secret: she is 28 years old. Realizing she’s actually close in age to him, he naturally develops feelings for her.
Unfortunately, Ko Won struggles to keep those feelings private. Even at work, Ko Won can’t help but dote over Mi Jin, raising eyebrows. One particularly funny moment was when their co-worker noticed his flirty behavior towards the older Mi Jin, which garnered 3.5M views on TikTok at the time of writing.
Netizens confessed they were suffering from “second male lead syndrome” due to Ko Won. They appreciate that he takes such good care of Mi Jin and loves both versions of her sincerely.
Additionally, Netflix, the international distributor, has been promoting Miss Night and Day lately via social media, but mainly using the clips of Ko Won and Mi Jin. This certainly isn’t helping anyone get over him.
Many viewers agree that these are some of the best scenes from the K-Drama. Ko Won has certainly become likable, knowing he truly loves both versions of her.
Still, seeing that Netflix seemingly pushes Ko Won x Mi Jin despite other indications that she will end up with Ji Woong makes viewers frustrated. Some wish that Ji Woong could just end up with her best friend instead, although it will likely be the other way around. Previously, it was established that the friend is a fan of Ko Won.
The K-Drama has already aired ten episodes, and the second male lead knows the female lead’s secret while the male lead is still in the dark. This has left some viewers confused and tired of the pacing. Some viewers are still rooting for the male lead but wish the romance would progress sooner.
