Prabhas, one of India’s biggest stars, has decided to put the sequels of Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD on hold. The actor is currently prioritizing standalone projects like The Raja Saab, Fauji, and Spirit. This move has left fans waiting longer for the next installments of two highly anticipated franchises.
The decision comes as Prabhas juggles multiple big-budget films. He recently wrapped up shooting for The Raja Saab, a horror-comedy set to release in December 2025. Only two songs remain to be filmed before the movie is complete. After this, he will focus on finishing Fauji, a period drama where 50% of filming is already done.
Prabhas has allocated bulk dates for Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The actor will reportedly shoot non-stop for this film from mid-2025 until mid-2026. This tight schedule leaves little room for Salaar 2 and Kalki 2, which are now delayed.
A source close to the team said, “Prabhas wants to wrap up his standalone projects first and then take time to complete the sequels to Salaar and Kalki.” The delay is also influenced by the directors’ busy schedules. Prashanth Neel, who helmed Salaar, is working on Jr NTR’s next film, while Nag Ashwin is still in pre-production for Kalki 2.
Prabhas’ injury on the sets of Fauji further disrupted his shooting plans. The actor had to take a break, causing delays in multiple projects. Despite this, he remains committed to delivering quality work without rushing the sequels.
Fans have mixed reactions to the news. While some are disappointed, others support Prabhas’ decision to focus on fresh content. The actor has a history of balancing sequels and standalone films, as seen with Baahubali and Radhe Shyam.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire was a massive hit, becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2023. Its sequel, Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam, was initially expected in 2026 but may now face a longer wait. Similarly, Kalki 2898 AD, a sci-fi epic, garnered critical and commercial success, but its sequel’s timeline remains uncertain.
Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab marks his first horror-comedy. The teaser received a strong response, easing the actor’s nerves about trying a new genre. The film stars Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Sanjay Dutt in key roles.
After Spirit, Prabhas has other collaborations in discussion, including projects with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Mythri Movie Makers. His packed schedule ensures he will remain one of the busiest stars in Indian cinema for the next few years.
